Nice watch for my son
I'd like to buy a nice watch for my 11 year old son to mark an achievement. He already has a casio g shock for every day wear. He wants something a little better looking to wear on special occasions.
He is quite tall for his age but really skinny. As he's only 11 it would be silly to buy anything too flash. Budget...about £200? Cheers |
A pre-owned Elliot Brown, a Bloxworth chronograph, ideally.
British designed, Swiss movement, exquisitely detailed and solidly-built Rolex replica. On eBay from £250 second-hand. Their Canford is pretty smart too but it has fewer 11 year-old pleasing crowns - from c£140 second-hand. |
There used to be a fella Mslorach on here who used to customise watches and did Avery good job of it.
I think he had a website not sure though.Well worth trying to track him down. |
Christopher Ward is a great brand.

Agree with above that Christopher Ward turn out some really nice watches, there is no mission of getting one within the OP's budget though.
Watches are a really personal thing, so its kinda hard to make a recommendation for someone I don't know. Would something like this work? these are generally reliable, well made and have sold in their thousands. https://www.cwcwatch.com/collections...ervice-watches I have bought several watches from this company https://www.watch-alpha.eu some folks will complain that their watches use "seagull" movements which I think are made in China, others will complain that they ape the styling of luxury brands and are therefore replicas - however, all their watches are branded aplha, I wouldn't want to wear something which pretends to be something it is not. I have worn one of these almost every day for the last 20 years, it has been faultless, I regret not buying a second, as at some point it will stop working, I just dont know when. I have just ordered this https://www.watch-alpha.eu/en/Multi-...zone-shop.html just because it is a bit quirky and I really like it. Also take a look at Daniel Wellington, Mondaine and Hanowa brands - I don't own any of these, and can't be sure they look good to an 11 year old, but I think shopping in the £200 bracket, you should find something which hits the mark. |

Skinny wrists, you will want something with a normal sized face then.37mm or less
One of the many seiko 5's? Under £100 and as everyone knows, ultra reliable At that age, I just got excited that my watch had 'jewels' in it.lol |
Thank you.
The Christopher Ward and Elliot Brown look really nice but are over budget at circa £500. I really don't want to buy him used one as its a present. Tarmac, I don't think he wants the military look but those alphas look really nice for the money. I think thats the sort of thing he would like. I'll have a good look at their website over the weekend. Cheers. |
