Is it me or are Subaru prices on the rise ?

I’m considering selling my blob wrx which is running 426bhp, I’ve got a price in my head but thought I’d have a look at what standardish blob wrx are going for and I was amazed seen a few 80k one for like 5500 now is that the price now a days ? As if it is may have to put my price up abit :lol1:

Oh I know that only have to look at the pictures or the discriptons to figure that out but mine has been my pride and joy for 6 years no expense spared over that time a lot of money has gone into this car mind you you read that statement a lot on eBay haha

EddScott 15 February 2018 07:43 PM

The current model is about as popular as syphilis so not really going up in value. Rather the opposite

Hawkins 1995 15 February 2018 08:07 PM

I think there only going to go up in value it's hard to think nice scooby for sale

jaygsi 16 February 2018 08:54 AM

Prices go up and down. What tends to happen is private sellers list there Impreza's online and back street traders buy them and resell for grand or so more. So check your not comparing your prices to dealers.

Here's an example

Certain clean well looked after models are going to increase in price, that is the case with most cars.Condition history is everything with older cars.

jaygsi 16 February 2018 12:33 PM

He's only just updated photo's aswell, so was still using the original sellers pictures.

You can bet he's done nothing to it and just relisted.

Very poor that is.

Blob sti's gone through the roof and classics are strarting to go up as there able to import the 93-94 cars in the USA under the 25 year rule so prices in Japan are rising fast at the auctions now which in turn will effect good cars over here .

Bryan Gallacher 27 January 2019 08:41 AM

Been keeping an eye on pistonheads etc to gauge what kind of prices their going for. Yesterday there was 100 subaru sti's listed on pistonheads, i think there was maybe 5 blobeyes. Prices have gone up over the last 6 months, I think as you say the usdm has a lot to do with it.

There aren’t many 93-94 cars left in Japan now either and yes, the ones that are there have certainly gone up. Unlike Skyline R32s for example, the early Imprezas weren’t looked after very well and many were exported to the likes of us who treated them like **** as well - apart from me :D

Best comparison is with MK1 Escorts. Plentiful and cheap at one point, nobody cared .... and then there were hardly any left. A couple of years ago you could get a usable and presentable Impreza Turbo for £1,000-1500. Now it’s £3k minimum.

jameswrx 28 January 2019 06:32 AM

I’ve had my STI V6 coming 6 years, cost me about £3500 and every year or so I have a peek at prices and must say I’m amazed at how cheap Impreza are really.

I’d decided to keep hold of this one as every other car I’ve had is now worth a fortune (low mileage Clio V6, R32 GTR, Cossies etc) so Sod’s law they’ll always be cheap haha

Looking at how dead it is on here I’m amazed they haven’t picked up more value as they must be relatively rare nowadays but I still think they’re a comparative bargain compared to other old performance cars. Mind you I don’t think evos are particularly expensive either really.

There's 2 early imports going for reason prices. Think most of the time it's dealers trying push the prices up that does it. Seen so many sell privately for cheap then pop up few weeks later for double the price privately them just sit there for months.

Nah, neither of those are what I would call presentable. Sticking by what I’ve said.

jaygsi 28 January 2019 07:53 PM

Is this presentable?

James, longtime no speak buddy, how’s things? Car is looking cracking pal, I totally hear what you’re saying about Cossies etc, as you know I’ve had loads, wish I still had my 22B too, just has 12k mileson it, hey ho, I don’t do regrets.

Pete aka Staffi ;)

rossyboy 28 January 2019 08:48 PM

No idea why you’re so desperate to prove me wrong Jay. Fact is that any £2k Impreza will have plenty of issues, or the owner doesn’t know what he has.

jaygsi 28 January 2019 08:54 PM

Because your suggesting that the prices are flying up for imports. Some yes, STI models type r models are going up. WRX models aren't really going up that much at all. I can pick up a reasonable one for under 2k.

s c o o b y 28 January 2019 08:58 PM

Black one spares or repair knocking engine
silver one 150000 miles dented and stone chipped and far from standard
black one 201000 miles
burgundy uk turbo say no more they never sold when they were not very old
silver automatic which went for spares

the prices in japan know have gone up so you won't see any imports coming over as cheap soon as the early cars are getting swallowed up to the USA
94 wrx Sti 69k km sold for 22000 usd
94 Wrx sti with 112000k km sold for 12000 usd
93 Wrx 100000km sold for 7000 usd

s c o o b y 28 January 2019 09:08 PM

Japanese classics over in New York have a black 93 wrx up for 15000 used as there able to get them now under the 25 year rule all I was saying was for good standard original cars if you can find them watch this space .

hardcoreimpreza 28 January 2019 09:08 PM

I like this one, sold for £1,270.95

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/subaru-im...p2047675.l2557
