Wonder if anyone knows much about these or owned one.

They seem to be rare 400 made.

You can't register them anymore until 10 years old. Not sure why as the 20th anniversary and spec c is fine.

Motorhub/keighley trade centre have one but you can't drive it on the road for another year. By which time I'm guessing the price will go up.

How come you can't register ? would you not simply need to do SVA/IVA what ever its called these days

You would think. I've no idea why. Torque GT confirmed it a few months ago to someone on here. Seems silly doesn't it.

interesting, think they are 2010 which means you have to wait until 2020 to get them registered

to uk register an impoted car, Each and every spec Car requires a "model report" which states its full spec, differences between models, with supporting pictures etc. A report for eg. 2009sti is already in system by Subaru so no need for report.

but a "special edition" report may not be in uk system, you would need to commision a model report to register it. At approx ￡10+k not cheap but if you know who,s done one, you could "rent" their model report. Or just register it as a normal JDM STi hatch.

may not be applicable to cars 10 years or older but that may have all changed now.

you should share the love, really considering buying one from Japan.

If you have the chassis number you should be able to get the original auction sheet from Japan which would provide mileage and what grade it was at auction.

Im curious , as I am about to Brexit back to the UK ( I live in Germany ) The car lives with me here since 2011 German registered.


Any thing to watch out for If I re-import my RHD UK300 Prodrive ?
To avoid extra costs tests/inspections/taxes etc.
I still have the original V5 and Prodrive Cert.

AFAIK if the car was originally in the UK then there should be nothing to pay wsp[ecially as its never been out of the EU, you 'may' even get your plate back?

Having done this a number of times moving back and forth to BFG you should get the old number back. DVLA should have a record of the car pre-export and then regen the car back to UK legislation. But you will need a valid MOT and insurance as well.

I am interested to know if the OE Prodrive lights are LHD. If so then you could be sitting on a small fortune.

When a UK registered vehicle is taken out of the UK for more than a year the DVLA treat it as having been permanently exported. They expect the vehicle to be registered in another country but this is clearly impossible for a traveller. Once a vehicle has been deemed as permanently exported there is no liability to pay the Road Fund Licence, to have it SORNed or to have the vehicle MOTed. However the vehicle is still retained on DVLA records and this can be checked on the DVLA website.

Temporary export.

The maximum period is 12 months. While abroad the vehicle must comply with UK on the road regulations. That means the vehicle must have a current MOT, and Road Fund Licence. Insurance is in accordance with local requirements. It is technically illegal to declare a SORN if the vehicle is on the road in a foreign country.

It is only possible to temporarily export a vehicle for a period of 6 months in any 12 month period within the EU. When returning to the UK by ferry from France note that the French authorities may report unlicensed British vehicles to the DVLA.

Permanent Export.

If you intend to take your vehicle out of the UK for more than 12 months it is deemed to be permanently exported. You should notify the DVLA of the date of permanent export on section V5C/4 of the V5 log book. You can either do this when the vehicle leaves the country or if you only temporarily export the vehicle and you change your mind then notify them at that time.

For practical purposes it may be convenient to declare a SORN for any period while abroad and not notify the DVLA of permanent export. However DVLA Booklet V100 (Registering and Licensing your Motor Vehicle) specifically states "do not make a SORN if you have sold, scrapped or exported your vehicle". The legalities of this must be a grey area as the vehicle is out of British jurisdiction.
