Noticed while driving off, but then stops after a while. Sounds as if something is scraping. Goes off now & again but not all the time!! Checked the brakes & all seems good.

Any ideas anyone???

I have a chirping noise from the exhaust when I blip the throttle when the car is stationary. I wonder if this is the same sound ?

Ive had the motor for 3 months now & only started yesterday. It seems to go off & stops once im stationary or travelling at speed. Its just a continuous annoying sqeeking noise!

If it is the CAT, is it serious???

Noise is definitely coming from the outside.

Heard quite of few stories in past of vibrating brake pipes against the chassis on the classics and broken/vibrating heat shields. Mine starting making a loud ticking noise and I was worried until I realized it was a stone in tyre LOL. Could be a stone in the brake pads as the alloys are quiet open. Loads of possibilities to be honest.

My squeek only occurs when engine hot and when I blip throttle at idle. Falling revs produce a screech through exhaust. So insignificant that I am not bothered about it. Its just a curious sound thats all, my MY99 never did it.

This seems to be something common to the MY01 onwards. Mine did this at slow speed espec in the wet. Seems to have been sorted at my 15000 serv, touch wood

BL - having heard the squeak, yesterday, I spoke to someone last night, and they suggested it is to do with the drum brake used for the hand brake - one way to fix MAY be to pulled the hand brake on slightly and very low speed to try and reseat it...

Of course, the best option is take it to a dealer ASAP.
And the noise if definitely from your rear passenger side wheel, and is not from the wheel bearing.
