VDC and Si drive problem hatch Sti

Hope someone can help me out with a problem I have with my 08 Impreza hatch sti
Every few weeks or so I get the Si drive flashing S and this then comes up with P0852 code neutral switch high circuit, I have now just changed the switch for a brand new genuine part and within a day the same as happened??
Also I don't know if the problem is linked or not but I cannot turn off the traction control, I have tried a single press and holding it down for 1 2 10 seconds and nothing.. the traction control light comes on when ignition is turned on the goes off after 1 second or so. I have tried a new switch but still the same. Even when the P0852 code is cleared and the Si drive works as it should the traction control VDC does nothing when pressed.
Any help much appricated cheers

Remove the intercooler and check the short loom on the top of the gearbox. I've seen a couple of instances were there has been damage to the harness if say its had a clutch or the engine the engine has been out and got crushed on the bulkhead

Cheers, I will have a look under the intercooler this week.

I removed the intercooler last night to check the wiring and found the 4 pin plug on top of the gearbox had been taped up, so I removed the tape to find two of the wires had been looped together?? ROB84 do you know what the 4 pin plug is for? It follows the 6 pin plug for the neutral switch etc down the gearbox.

That is the wiring plug for your rear oxygen sensor (you may find a resistor under that gunk, if it's been deleted)

Ok cool thanks, I think I will cut the loop and out and repair the wire properly and go from there. I can’t see a resister it’s more just a loop of bare wire then full of gunk, I’m sure there should be a better way of deleting the oxygen sensor than fitting a wire surley

Ok cool thanks for that. I think I will cut the loop out and put the wire back to how it should be and go from there. I can’t see a roster under the gunk just a bare wire
surley there should be a better way to delete the oxygen sensor
i will check the wiring on the 6 pin plug this weekend.

It's also possible if the wires are the screened type, then this could be them connected together as white is earthed further up the line.

Transmission harnesses
T5-T6 - rear O2 sensor
T12/T2 - NP switch
T9 - 6 pin light grey connector

Thanks for that, I will start by cutting out the bodged up loop joining the wires together and go from there. Surely there should be a better way of deleting the oxygen sensor if that was the case. I will let you know how I get on.

I have managed to hopefully find the NP switch problem, found 3 wires had broke on the short loom on the gearbox like rob84 said, I have been for a blast and so far no P0852 code, the traction control button still does nothing but the light did flash up on the dash when I lost traction which I have never noticed before. Thanks for all your help so far. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...c8d391579.jpeg

Just thought I would post an update on this problem I had. Fixing the 3 broken wires cured the neutral
postion error code, but in regards to my traction control problem etc it’s was the dash that had either gone faulty or bodged up. I had no Tcs,abs, cruise, Eml light on ignition on, so a new dash cluster and a quick visit to Subaru to recode the key fixed the problem. All sorted for £88 for a 2nd hand dash and £50 to Subaru :-)
