Hi all,
I am very new to Imprezas and dont know what to buy, I want to spend anything up to about 12k. I am looking for lots of advice, what to look for, whats the best model, should I get an import or UK car etc...

I have seen lots for sale in autotrader, some really nice looking ones for around 8k.

What does everyone think ? What have you all got for this kind of money ?

Cheers

I would stick to a UK car. The imports are dodgy from Japan if over 4 years old. You won't know the history and the rustproofing will be about as good as hammer made out of a water melon.

Yep you could stick to a UK but UK cars have dodgy pasts as well ;)it will however be cheaper to insure but it wont have the toys on board as standard and it will be down on power as much as 70 bhp.

Some of the common myths on imports LOL :

1) They are all stolen
2) They blow up on UK fuel
3) You cant get them serviced
4) You cant get the bits when they break
5) They are worth 20p when you come to sell them
6) The warranties are no good
7) They rust due to no underseal

Taking each one :

1) Get the import paperwork and find out who imported it you can also get it checked now to see if it was stolen in Japan.

2) If you run on SUL/Optimax and octane booster they are plenty of cars running for 1000's of miles without a problem. If you start messing with boost and fueling then it may blow but then agian UK's blow if you mess with them as well.

3) Plenty of specialist about and some are cheaper than Subaru dealers

4) Plenty of specialist can get you the bits and a lot of bit are interchangable with UK cars.

5) Mine has lost less than a P1 and cost less when it was new ;)

6) Depends on who you get the warranty off ;). I never claimed on mine as nothing went wrong.

7) Check its been undersealed I had mine done from new.

Pays ya money but get an insurance quote first before you drive an import ;).

Cheers
