Andy Forrest
Does Andy Forrest ever travel away from his base to do mapping days, or would he do a group mapping session somewhere in England if I could round some interested parties up? He's a busy man, so I thought that I would ask here first as it would be a 1300 mile round trip for me!!!
I also need an exhaust fitted, and caik, so does he have a nearby associated garage to do fitting, as I understand he only maps. And lastly, is flex fuel on Racerom suitable for lower quality fuels abroad? Thanks. |
Your best to contact him directly
http://www.andyforrestperformance.co.uk/ or message via Facebook Driven gently there is no reason you couldn't fit the parts and drive to him, Stay off boost and any hard accel & you will be ok. Not sure about the flex fuel question Someone else will know that tho :) |
I seriously don't fancy driving 650 miles with an unmapped exhaust and intake!! But I am happy to travel there as a road trip, and have parts fitted locally.
|
I thought i seen on facebook he will only be mapping from his unit from now on
|
That's what I suspected.

I drove close to 80 miles to him with new injectors, manifold, bigger turbo, 3 port solenoid. Didn't have a single issue Kept the loads low and off boost and there wasn't an issue. Folk fit exhaust and intake with no plan of mapping at all haha (Never a good thing bu the don't instantly grenade unless your caning it) Speak to Andy yourself he will tel you your probobly not the furthest he has had folk drive with mods requiring mapped |
Thanks, will do

The closed loop fueling of your ecu will sort out the cruise afr provided u go easy on the throttle. Just ensure ur O2 sensor is hooked back on. Just drive it without worrying mate. |
Might come with you hedge see if Andy can sort out the mess the other clown left me in

I visited Andy on Jan 8th for 20% Ethanol map.
Definetly worth it |
Andy Forrest will not travel you will have to go to him .

This is what i got from road dyno data, same figures used as before
Only now with 20% Bio-Ethanol in tank and now 850cc DW injectors Before was 2nd Hand Power Enterprise 600cc https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...17822948d0.jpg This is what the Ecotune dyno in Glasgow put out for the 427bhp V-Power run above. Going by how much road dyno was out previously, I would be happy if i seen close to 430bhp with 400Ft/lbs now on the Ethanol bend. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...39b63fde13.jpg Oh and i also cut out centre resonator and backbox delete, safe to say it is deafening. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...0b4feda2dd.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...2c3c6281c1.jpg |
650 miles from Lands end to Andy, off boost? I don't have that kind of self control 😀
|
Be 650 miles of fun on the way home thou

See ye don't want Andy to fix it.
He is wayyy too professional. He will just shake his head fix your map and send you home with car running perfect. What you want is someone who will look into your existing map and give you the ammo you need to kum back on here gunz blazing and slay the previous guy who left u think left you in this mess. We couldnt possibly end this saga with a new AFP map and never finding out what real fault was hahah This forum demands more entertainment !!! |
Yea as Andy will see the old map?
|
Your starting to get boring real fast

And lastly, is flex fuel on Racerom suitable for lower quality fuels abroad? Thanks. Flex fuel works on ethanol content not octane rating so if your planning to use it to account for wacky 89 octane etc. then no dice. If your planning to map the car with a strong mix of ethanol and then use the blending to make it work with any ethanol blends you can find on your travels then that will work fine. As it's just using a sensor input to determin the ethanol content, you can set it up backwards with a super unleaded map as the 100% ethanol optoin - then reduce timing and richen the mixture for 95 fuel but you would have to fit a switch in the car and remember to switch it when you fill with 95. This would have limited use and appeal as the ECU does have a lot of knock control going on - you'd be handier having the IAM set to start at a middle of the road setting and just use an ECUconnect/bluetooth doofer to reset the ECU when you fill up with mystery fuel and let it learn how far it can go on it's own. |
Thanks Bludgod

i wouldn't worry too much about the drive, given how handy most intakes are to fit you could fit it when you get there and just have the exhaust done before hand.

yes you can use the map switching feature to have a lower timing map for low octane fuel - would be the same on syvecs they don't have an octane rating sensor as far as I know so ECUTek/syvecs/link/ESL/simtek etc. you'd be just looking at map switching if your looking to change octane.
