new discs/pads/lines......any suggestions
 

as the car is going to chevron for new suspension next week im gonna take the opportunity to stick new discs and pads on all round along with fresh fluid and braided brake lines.

any suggestions on which are a good combo? i prefer the look of drilled discs and nearly ordered the brembo xtra-line discs but they dont (or i cant find) any matching for the rears.

would love another porsche set-up like my old impreza or a set of ap 6-pots but mrs would kill me if i spent £2k on brakes

You'd be better off staying away from drilled discs as with hard driving with good pads they can end up cracking around the holes , drilled discs are well known for doing this.

This is a popular package we offer for front and rears , a good performing pad , quiet in use , and not too bad for dust

The Brembo's can be made to work very well , even on the track , only very hard driving or track use would see the benefits of going bigger

the 2nd link i notice is the track-pack, would the pads be suitable for a road car?

Yes same pads in both packages , ideal pad for your use , and quiet
Very capable pad that will take quite a bit of stick on track , just as happy day to day driving as well

Hi I run , Ian's package



Bell type disk 335 mm x 32 mm "float" and don't warp on cooling WRX Std calipers are adapted for use 5mm spacer ,
to use Ferodo 2500 are XJ6 /Aston pattern. These needed a bit of dremel work but work really good for me. Huge braking improvement over std,

Braided hoses and the Motul 600 RBF, or Castrol SRF better but expensive for me . To sort out brake balance I used Carbon Lorain RC5 at rear , Ferodo 2500 (sinternd) give hardly any squeal front , a very quick squeal on first touch of pedal from rears but then none further. So ok for Tescos and Zebra X

I get a warm up and 3-4 good laps of the Nürburgring in before things get a little too hot , but by then I'm done and sweating as well.

My opinion always get the Suspension (BC coil overs) done first , Your can't aim properly at an Apex under braking without them. Then of course sort the brakes next. My Mods above are 2k :thumb: But If I had another extra 2k I would take 6 pots and buy 18 Inch wheels /tires as that's what it costs extra.

the car is going to have a full suspension overhaul @ chevron motorsport along with new tyres so will be getting the brakes done at the same time. just deciding which package to go for

hi ian, i will be ordering the 1st kit you linked me ok and i will also require the hoses/fluid for £75 but i cannot see that duo listed on your website.

so are you saying ian's discs are no good then? have you proof of this?

as for catching attention.......its not me whos is clogging up peoples threads with useless drivel

I’ve bought a set of rear discs off Ian and they have been very good.

Always had all my brake parts from Ian, both upgrades and replacements for worn parts later.

NEVER had a problem.

How long do you find the discs and pads last?


Everyone seems to have an opinion no matter what you buy it's always the wrong one.

Think I'll just keep my car to n the garage and not use it so nothing wears out.
