If you are driving any distance, you kids are going to be pretty uncomfortable in some of those. If you don't mind the auto box, I would second the IS-F. I test drove one around a year ago and it was a belter. Bit porky, but raised a smile.
Oh...and in answer to your question "What comes after an Impreza??". In my case it was plod in an unmarked car. :lol1: |

Love every minute of mine |
For me it was a easy choice when i sold my impreza ...I went for a R35 but you will need at least 40k and they are only really 2+2 ...........If i needed a saloon 4 door i would look at the VXR8 and Jag XFRS both capable cars and both sound awesome

No brainer.
280 bhp before a tweak, mine is 319, Twinscroll EJ20Y. Bilsteins, pace, comfort and much JDM goodness. But I am biased. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...51d7042c39.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...26d76caa9b.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...2a17b1e03e.jpg |

Loving that Legacy Spec B!

I've had a few Imprezas so I know Subaru is a pretty reliable manufacturer. The problem is, these cars, as good as they are, are all getting on a bit. Even minor things like hoses etc have a shelf life, regardless of how well maintained or serviced a car is overall. So you could have something with an amazingly well built engine, and it may get let down by a £1 part that has reached its end of life.
I'd rather not get a car that's going to have age related issues (I have enough of those of my own!). So I'm thinking, maybe up to 6 or 7 years old, 10 at the most? |
Issue with 140, is rear leg room if you were doing long distances. I had a 135i and that has no room in the back to right home about and that was a 5 door. Also boot is small.
I second the Insignia VXR. You will get a cracking one right in the middle of your budget, They have loads of room in the back and the boot for touring and they have a really nice front end on them. Also with a simple map they go up to around 330 plus with lots of torque. My old Vectra VXR mapped to 301 (the insignia uses a different turbo) and my torque shot up to 500 nm i loved it. Yes its a Vauxhall.... but i have an Insignia diesel and it has been utterly reliable |
Hawkeye Spec D?

I have a MY17 STI and have decided that in 12 months time I will make a decision on it's future. I will either go sensible and get a 330/335 Touring OR go silly again and get a B8 RS4. The RS4 will only be for a year to get it out my system.
Had considered getting something cheap and keeping the STI but I don't really have time for the 2nd car thing. It will just sit there.

as Banny said on an earlier post, I have gone to an M140i, I previously owned a 390bhp forged impreza and even completely standard the M140i feels just as fast with the extra torque and gearing, with a JB4 I am hoping to see circa 400/410bhp , its beautiful to drive, beautiful to sit in with the toys, not in your face and is a true wolf in sheeps clothing, best of all its pretty much being handed out with nearly 25% off with dealer discounts. definitely a consideration. Other choices could be the usual golf R, S3, they are also 4wd and probably have a more premium feel over a Subaru.

Do a quick search for Insignia VXR dif problems. That should be all you need to scrap that idea.
