Nextbase 412 in car cam.Footage retrieval
Guys,
I have had the cam now for a while and when I download the footage to my laptop and play it back it keeps stuttering .Car track days is the footage. On speaking with Nextbase they say it is down to using the laptop and they are working on a fix. Something to do with the amount of memory or power it needs to play these clips?? Not very happy with this obviously but does anyone know of a fix for this. I do not have a stand alone PC to try it on ,just my laptop which is fairly powerful I think. i7 processor and so on. What do I need to plug it straight into my tv ? and would this allow me to see the footage without it freezing all the time? Any help appreciated. |
Maybe the quality of the video is too high for playback on your laptop.
Have you tried transcoding it with something like handbrake? https://handbrake.fr/ |
I will give it a try .
Ta. |
Upload it to YouTube.
|
I did try that and failed...!
|
Upload a sample to YouTube, you can trim or edit it on there,
See if you can view it then, Also what memory card have you recorded it on ? What speed is the card ? |
The card I got is a 32 gb one.As recommended by nextbase
I have just ordered a cable from nexbase to see if I can watch the clips on my tv. They said I would with this cable so will give it a try. Just want it to be simple. Seriously thinking of just buying a go pro or something which may be more user friendly for techno phobes like me...! |
I had the same model in my car. I used to connect to the cam via wifi on my fone and download the vids to the phone, then copy the vid from my fone to laptop easily.
Never had an issue watching the vids on the fone or laptop. Have you tried copying the video file onto a usb stick and putting that into the tv? |
Nope but will give it a go though.
Thanks Another pain is the 3 min clips..! |

Roadhawk HD works well with RaceRender
A Roadhawk HD which has 5Hz GPS built in (newer model has 10hz) works very well for trackday footage. Use RaceRender to import the footage and you will be able to produce very similar video to a Racelogic VBOX (track map, speed, best lap etc) at a fraction of the cost.

How do I find the speed of the card?
|
Post whatever numbers are on the card, or take a photo I or someone else will search for it. It sounds just like a slow card to me. If you have another, try it.

OK Heres the card in the cam.

Where did you buy it from? There are a ton of fakes out there.
|
I agree with the above, but if it is genuine, the card isnt the issue, do you copy the files onto a PC , then watch them, or watch them from the card?
|
I'd put money on the card not being genuine.
Try filling it up with stuff then reading it. |
test the card,

Looking back on it I purchased the cam from Amazon and also the pack with cam pouch and sd card together from Amazon as well. Nextbase GO PACK PLUS Dash Cam Carry Case & 32GB SanDisk Micro SD Card - Digital Video Recorder for 101 212 312GW 402G 512G DUO (Case & 32GB Card) Sold by iZilla £21.95 for pouch and card together |
I have bought a cable today from Nextbase which at least allows me to view on my tv by plugging it into the tv using yellow ,white and red plugs into the tv but I want to be able to keep the footage and if I use the cam again it will over write the footage on there.

Copy all the footage to a external hdd, via the laptop,
Copy to Laptop, then to Ext hdd will probably be quicker, data transfer wise. What are you watching the footage on via the laptop ? VLC/Windows Media Player etc . some CCTV footage wont play in WMP, so I tend to use VLC a lot. |
How old is the lappy? which generation of core i7 cpu? How has the video been encoded? if its in anything higher than 1080p i.e 4K and your lappy doesn't have a dedicated GPU its going to be laggy on it. It shouldn't stutter at 1080p or less though.
|
Laptop is fairly recent. Say 12 months old. It is a works one that I use from home.
I 7 6500 u cpu @ 2.5 ghz 16.0 gb 64 bit Operating System Does this make it any clearer? its getting above my head all this tech talk, im a dinosaur..! |

Think I will just burn it...!!!
But thanks for your input guys, |
Do you not have any other smart devices you can put the card in and view the videos?
TV(via usb stick),Tablet or Phones. |
I tried it on my wifes phones and it seemed to stutter on there as well. I think her ipad is a bit old now and lacking memory she said. she may be fobbing me off though ..!
