The v5 has some small rust bubbles on the arch (drivers side) and beside the rear window (small bubbling)

Looking at ideally sorting something this week

Any input would be appreciated

This is just going to be a weekend car now that i have a company motor

Ask both sellers for the chassis number and go onto carVX

Put in the chassis number, pay the fee and in a day or two you should receive the original auction sheet and the pictures taken at auction.

This will help you determine if the car you are buying is worth looking at. Seller might be saying its a high grade car when in fact its a crash/repair. Grading can be subjective from auction house to auction house too but it's still useful in the decision making process.

I have spoken the the garage selling the blue v3

No rust, just into the country, Does occasionally have a sticking clutch, which i can assume is the slave or some air in the system

so it comes down to V3 vs V5

for me, V5 all the way, not a fan of early classic interior

But the small bubbling of rust may turn out to be a bit more serious underneath:(

yeah tis a fair point, however given prices of decent ones its not a bad price, maybe get some knocked off to cover it..

rust was bad. It's would need a new panel welded in

plus when I came to see it the windows were down. Assume as it's letting water in.

he also said it's not been started in a while so will need jumper cables.... But the engine was hot

purchased the blue one for 7.5k

will get it booked in for a clutch as this one is high and a map check

drove nice (tein coilivers) a bit firm lol

Although no signs of slipping so may hold off on clutch

That grey Type R has been up for sale for over 6 months and someone on my facebook viewed it. The corrosion is a lot worse than just a few bits, but its a good few months since he looked at it. They've had 2 V5/6 2 doors up for sale that haven't sold, similar cars but almost 2k apart on price.

Dont get me wrong, it just looks like a small bubble under the fuel filler, its not broken the surface yet

But I am qualified in smart repairing panels and wheels (although i never have time to do anything anymore)

And i can tell you that if you grind that away, you will end up with alot of rot...

Its also rusted up the side of the rear window, which is a pain to repair...

So walked away

Got the V3 STI Type R. Seems stock apart from HKS exhaust and a larger intercooler.

Had a VERY slight hunt at idle (sway was around 300 RPM) so will keep an eye on it, but it seemed to run nicely and boost smoothly.

Sounds nice with the HKS on it as well.

Hopefully pick up in the next few days

They are also kept in the open in a garden, not under cover etc
