Andy forrest question

Just like to say hi to everyone my question is I've got a subaru blobeye mapped by Andy forrest in the pasted it made 361 hp 350fb anyway do you think a restrictor pill would of been used if so what size because it has been removed cars just not boosting till around 4 rpm thx

yabbadoo4 09 December 2017 07:14 PM

put a 1mm mig welding tip in. does the job fine. why has it been removed though?

ossett2k2 09 December 2017 08:06 PM

No need for restrictor pill if running an aftermarket 3 port bcs.
What mods and turbo you running?

td05 18g think it's just standed 2 port. 3 inch exhurst bigger injectors

ossett2k2 09 December 2017 08:27 PM

Usually the 2 port will keep the pill.
Are you hitting full boost at 4k?
What's your max boost set at?

I'll pop out in it now n pop it in high boost because only just fitted boost gauge not tryed in high boost we gauge on

Ok just take it easy and find a nice clear stretch, see if you can eyeball when you hit 1bar and when you hit max boost.

have you just bought this car or did you have it mapped?

just got the car yes but been chating to the guy who did the work on the car and got it mapped and that

yabbadoo4 09 December 2017 09:11 PM

ok so who told you the pill has been removed? the guy you bought it from? if so why was it removed as its needed to control boost on a 2 port boost solenoid (ie the orgional setup) unless you have an electronic boost controller fitted instead?

I've looked it doesn't have one I think it's been removed when last owner installed a boost gauge but installed it to the pill area with new blue pipe so I think it's been removed with out him releasin it was there. I've relocated the boost gauge now to the dump value so gauge works as it should just trying to work out if I need the pill or not

Have you done any mods after the remap?
You could be getting a boost spike but if you're not hitting boost cut at 1.8 then you could be running an aftermarket map sensor?
If it's been mapped to 1.7 and you're hitting it at 3.5-4K then I'd say that's pretty good imo.
If you are defiantly still running a 2 port bcs then at those boost levels you would see better control with a 3 port.
Saying that I'm still running a 2 port and I've tweaked my wgdc to stop my overboost,I'm going to fit my 3 port tho when I get chance as it will give me more control up the rev range.

no mods after the map only dump valve but I'm taking it off ill have a good look round it tomorrow u on Facebook buddy add me Paul singo

so the car was mapped by andy f and made 360 on an 18g then later on the previous owner fitted a boost gauge and removed the vac pipe with the pill? if so id put a pill back in the t piece on the turbo nipple and see how it runs. if it doesnt run better or boost better (or worse) then just remove it again.

I've had a look this morning and it's 2 port had a look at the map sensor to looks stock purple label on it I do get fuel cut every now and again thought it may be the pill missing boosting to much with out the pill I'll try a 1mm pill see how I go

Nice one let us know how you get on :thumb:

Wull 10 December 2017 04:33 PM

Andy says the 2 bar map sensor is good for 1.55 bar without any probs

Personally I think a 3 port would be better especially at the top end of revs but I'm only speaking from what I've read and advice given,I run 1.65bar with no problems but will be fitting a 3 port, looking for better control and quicker spool.
I've already had better results just by playing with the wgdc on the 2 port but hoping to hit full boost faster with a 3 :thumb:

johned 10 December 2017 09:01 PM

On the later classics no pill means no boost.

I’m a fud mate, I meant to say 2 bar map sensor :wonder: gettin auld

madwrx 07 February 2018 09:05 PM

tbh mate thats good numbers from an 18g -350ftib should make it quite nippy i reckon-as i recall mine came on boost about then too. td05 turbine is quite old school technology now.
best mod i did to aid spool was to port the standard headers- started making boost circa 2500rpm so helped with lowdown response with full boost around 38-4000 rpm.
