Cooling fans

When should the fans come on? The temp gauge never goes above half, in fact it sits just below halfway.

Also should they run when the ignition is switched off? My usual experience with cooling fans is that they will stay on after the vehicle is switched off, but wondered if it was different from vehicle to vehicle.

It’s got me a little paranoid but the gauge never goes above half so I don’t think there’s any issues, a slight leak at the oil cooler pipe but all levels are fine.

subaru temp gauge only goes over half way when the engine is just about cooked, best off running an aftermarket gauge imo.

Top hose fitting? I think that’s what I’ll do just for peace of mind

The best place to fit the sensor is where the oem sensor is now and move that one to the top hose.
On a GC8 there are 2,one for the gauge and one for the ecu,if this is the same on the newage then make sure you move the correct one(gauge).

Sounds like a lot of fannying about tbh :lol1:

My external diameter of the top hose is 45mm and scoobyworx do a 38mm mishimoto kit so I’m guessing that’s the one to get.

I’ll have a look to see what sensors it has, if it’s got the ecu sensor I think it’s very near the oem gauge sensor.

It will be ok in the top hose but more accurate in the stock location.
Yes both sensors are close together, the ecu one 2 pin and gauge one a single wire.
