JDM legacy turbo oil leak?

I cleaned out the intercooler and throttle body of my 2006 Legacy twinscroll, while doing so there was more oil than I was expecting (much more than my similar aged WRX). Looking round it appears that there is a small seep around the top of the turbo, but not near the oil feed. It's under the pipe from the turbo to the intercooler so not that easy to see.
at a guess it looks like the oil is coming from the join between the turbo flange and the intercooler pipe.
any suggestions?
There is a hot oil smell when the car is warm that gets worse under hard driving. But no smoke and the car runs very well.

I took off the turbo to intercooler pipe. Slightly better picture now.
Still no idea where the oil is coming from as it appears to be from the turbo to intercooler pipe join down. Possible PCV issue causing too much oil through the inlet coupled with a old seal? Or could it be dripping back from the intercooler?
I took everything off, cleaned all the mating faces and old oil and re-torqued everything.
There was some evidence of the coolant pipe at the back of the header leaking, so I replaced the subaru pipe clips with jubilee clips. Not sure that will make any difference.
