Autowatch Ghost and warranty question

Hi

I'm now in a position to replace my dearly departed 991 TTS with something similar.

I had my heart set on one of these devices as an extra layer of security.

However it now seems that one of these will nullify my Porsche warranty as it needs to connect into the ECU. Seems obvious now but never really occurred to me before.

Obviously I don't really want to void the warranty on a car where the engine costs tens of thousands of pounds.

1) What kind of warranty claims could a manufacturer decline on the basis of having one of these fitted?
Is it basically anything as the ECU has an impact on just about everything in a modern car?

2) Should I have reason to claim, could something like this be removed without leaving any 'trace'?

Thanks

Does not go near the ecu, If need be you could remove it,

Aha, I thought it did. I will look into it further.

Thank you.

Nope - just needs power and to connect into the canbus.
Have one fitted to my new M3

Best part is, its completely untraceable due to it connecting to the canbus, it can be pretty much placed anywhere in the car.

Ive seen these fitted, So Im sure it could be on a plug type system, Hidden away, So when you need to send it for any work , You can unplug it , !! Might work , Ask the expert, (you have his number) :thumb: My car has a Ghost fitted , really good bit of kit. But I do understand your worry re service work.
When mine gets done Ill tell the service dept, Dont drive my car over 30mph, No road testing at all, Or I will know about it , :D might work

Same here, I just put it into service mode and tell them not to drive the car, otherwise it will leave them in the street :D.
Its actually a great deterrent in having techs driving your car for no reason.

Thanks.

Car will be freshly serviced so next one won't be due for about 2 years anyway...unless something goes wrong with the car of course!
