Lower pressure in windscreen washer jets
Have had this issue for the last 6 months or so where the windscreen washer jets (mainly the passenger side) has hardly any pressure in them at all.....
at first i though it was just a blockage tried a sewing needle and poke it down the 2 holes on each jet, opened the bonnet and disconnected the tubes going to the jets but they are clear also, even with the tube disconnected from the jets theres not a lot of water coming out of the tubes. Any ideas what the issue could be, could it be the pump failing at all??? |
looks like the impeller in the pump is shot. Would have thought someone like MB Developments, trader section on here would have a suitable replacement.

Are they not too expensive and easy to fit?
|
Dead easy. Cost about £10 or less.
Before doing it, I'd remove the jets, soak in warm water and a bit of washing up liquid, then blow through them in the reverse direction. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...+pump&_sacat=0 |
Sounds more like a blocked jets, id be tempted to swap jets over to see if the issue moves to the other jet, then go from there.
|
Thanks for the suggestions ill give them a go

Is the washer tank clean at the bottom.

Remove the valve and you should be able to blow through it one way but not the other.

Not everything is advertised on the bay - why not ask a dealer the UK price. In Germany it goes for about €44 Have you ACTUALLY removed the old one and tested it?? |
This looks more like the real thing

Thanks ill give them a go, i might not even need it if i can fix the original just didnt want to dismantle the screen wash reservoir and not have a new pump on hand to fit if need be
|
You don't say if you've ever had the jets out, soaked them and blown through in reverse?
Being as the faulty jet is nearer the pump than the decent one, I'm still leaning towards blockage. Also look at the T-Junction on the tubing, do the same for that. |
