SKY TV too dear?

Guys,
if you think your paying too much then phone them up and get it reduced.
I think I have reported on this before and it has worked for me several times.
My last bill came in at £115.
We have 2 extra Q boxes ,sky sports ,line rental (landline phone never gets used..!) and broadband.
Now it had been creeping up for the last few months ad I thought I must phone them, anyway I had a problem with the broadband so I had to phone them so took the opportunity to speak to the downgrade team as well once the broadband was sorted.
Told them it was too dear and enquired what the cheapest package was including broadband , so without sports etc. I was quoted about £50 I think.
As they were doing this they said "oh we have some discounts on at the moment , how about keeping the same package you already have with the sports etc for £77 .?" This is for 18 months.
"Well go on then "I said and took up the offer.
So in a nutshell they are thieving scrotes just like the utility companies.
My advice ,if your paying too much phone and get it reduced.
Simples..!!
Your welcome...:thumb:

We left them about 6 months ago after our sky box failed. Phoned them up to get a replacement, but got we would have to pay x amount for a new box, plus more per month. Bearing in mind we didn’t have movies or sport, just the HD package, it would have cost circa £75 a month. So we left, went with BT and now pay £15 odd a month for a much better service. We get a letter from sky every couple of months trying to entice us back. We’ll pass thanks. I don’t understand these folks who pay £120 a month to watch TV. Mental.

Sick of their discounts, i got fed up after 15 years as the discounts weren't good enough compared to some others, so left and now rocking iptv for £20 for 6 months and bt broadband

john_d 14 October 2017 05:11 PM

IPTV all the way

njkmrs 14 October 2017 07:16 PM

IPTV ?
Not heard of that

john_d 14 October 2017 07:25 PM

Let just say you get all the tv you can watch, all the sports, movies, ppv and anything else you can think of...... Most in HD

urban 14 October 2017 07:38 PM

IPTV - not a patch on Sky though really in my opinion.
None of the nice features that sky have really.

Best just call sky when your contact renewal is approaching and just negotiate the deal that you are happy with.

I have sky tv/broadband/phone and line rental was £97 they dropped it last year to £70, had a letter through 2 weeks ago saying you offer runs out in November but we will extend the offer for another 12 months.

No complaints from me ;)

After I cancelled sky tv I kept getting the usual come back phone calls. Eventually they agreed to what I was willing to pay and even chucked in additional discounts on my unlimited fibre broadband and phone. I only have the original package on a sky+ hd box but I pay less than £25 pcm for all 3.

Andycat 15 October 2017 12:03 PM

Im on IPTV sick of sky costs had it 9 years at nearly £100 a pop (my STI cost less)

got a box that plays ITPV so paying £12 a month all channels BT inc works 99% of time watched groves fight last night liverpool v man utd.....all great will watch Everton this afternoon even tho no uk channel showing it!

If you choose IPTV to be on your iPhone, what do you view it on?... Any web browser?

Or do you have to install a bespoke app?

The reason I ask is; if the former, then I'd be able to cast the video stream to my large screen, via the Tubio app, using my other Android box as a DLNA server (because the Android box itself is much slower than my iPhone).

Andycat 15 October 2017 12:19 PM

on my IPTV you can go through a site any browser and watch the channels on iphone

I have a android box I play it on my main tv

never tried playing it through any app

joz8968 15 October 2017 12:21 PM

Awesome! Just what I wanted to hear.

Think I'm gonna buy their €3.99 24hr trial and check it out....

bustaMOVEs 15 October 2017 12:38 PM

I have it on a amazon firestick, but if on iPhone i could just stream it to tv via apple tv no problems

ossett2k2 15 October 2017 02:26 PM

I have a fire stick and have kodi on my iPhone(JB) so if you pay for an IPTV then I would think you could use it on your iPhone,I've never tried,we get an ok deal from sky and BT for TV and broadband.
Phone come in handy when at work :)

Had Sky for 20 years, it was expensive, a bit more expensive than I wanted (had a load of mult-rooms) but we spoke to them and got Sky Q, the bill for All Sky channels, Sky Q 2TB box and 3 satellite boxes is £66. Can't complain at that, cheaper and much better, Sky Q really is a step up in TV.

joz8968 15 October 2017 03:58 PM

Don't they freeze 'a lot' though?

lozgti1 15 October 2017 10:37 PM

Comical what we pay today to watch the tv and have a telephone.

We are utterly brainwashed

gpssti4 16 October 2017 12:31 PM

I was paying £22.50 a month for their basic TV package plus box sets. Included was the line rental and broadband. I cancelled the TV package after the year and just use the broadband - with a firestick. Works just fine.

bioforger 16 October 2017 12:50 PM

Yea IPTV, kodi etc is all well and good for now, but it will get shutdown eventually in the future as you know its illegal to share the content. Anyway as said it just does not have the convenience or features of Sky q/hd. But yea for what Sky is it is a ripoff, just like it is for any smartphone contract or many other services you can name. Monopolies suck ass.

Torquemada 16 October 2017 05:07 PM

I miss Sky TV so much, believe it or not - AT&T and Time Warner Cable/Spectrum are complete dogsh1t. It's like being back in the 90's!

To be honest I can probably get most of what I want via streaming, nowadays. Hulu, Netflix, Amazon all seem to actually give most of what I watch, then I could top up with a couple of subscriptions directly to the channels I need on their streaming websites and I'm done.

Kwik 16 October 2017 06:02 PM

I use covenant or exodus which are free. I did have flawless which was £10 a month for all the sky channels but ditched it as you can’t record.

LSherratt 17 October 2017 09:08 PM

If you go onto the Sky website, you can spec the entire fully loaded TV package for £67/month + one off payment of £65. That also includes the box sets as well.

lozgti1 17 October 2017 10:18 PM
