Standard 07 STi for me, but do fancy a DAMD flat bottom one.
They look good.

Cambs_Stuart 30 September 2017 01:18 PM

I fitted a hawk sti wheel to my wagon and really liked it. Just trying to work out how to upgrade the one on the leggy and keep the gear selector.

ZANY 30 September 2017 01:48 PM

Kind of ... r32 flat bottom in the golf diesal and damd in the Subaru

Momo Monte Carlo. Discontinued now. Had to get mine from the States.

That's what I had to do... Via eBay.

Is yours the 350 model... Or the 320 (it actually measures 315mm dia.) one, like mine?

TECHNOPUG 30 September 2017 02:06 PM

The smaller one I think. I got mine new from a Miata parts specialist Stateside but that was a couple of years ago now.

Blimey, I've had mine for 5.5 years now!

They now do one with red stitching (and red horn push)...

...Would look nice in my STi (what with the red STi logo and flashes on the seats).

Hmmmm, might get that too, then........

lol

TECHNOPUG 30 September 2017 06:45 PM

I had one on my 205 years ago.

The proportions on the one you linked to look all wrong. Too thick everywhere - looks more like a little kart wheel.

This is the one I have:

Still available it seems. I.m sure it was discontinued in Europe when I bought mine, as I tried lots of stockists from all around Europe and they all said the same. Hence why I got it from the States.

** My order history suggests I bought the 350mm one.

joz8968 30 September 2017 08:06 PM

Yeah, the 320 is a slightly different design, with thicker and more oval cross-section spokes. The 350 Monte Carlo is more in the style of the MOMO Model 78.

I just don't like wheels wider than 330mm - but that's just me.

Admittedly, that pic of the 320 version does look like it has some serious girth lol - thus making it look smaller than it actually is.

But in reality it's not as extreme... It actually feels really nice and natural to grip. But I understand not everyone likes a smaller wheel.

okay guys call me stupid here but where does the airbag go as surely if a car has an airbag in the steering wheel is it road legal if you take it out....

joz8968 30 September 2017 08:26 PM

It's obviously deleted. I've also had the AB warning light deleted - I think, with the resistor mod.

Not sure on the UK legality. But, IIRC, if something is deleted, then it's okay... Even if it was an original OEM feature. Like for removing, say, OEM spot lights. I think the law is: if something is fitted - whether OEM or aftermarket - then it must be in working order, as the manufacturer intended.

Although that said, HID kits - without compatible projector lenses - are illegal, though. I think.

All I know is, I've never been refused an MOT pass because of it.

How do you organise your fetish? 7 cars? A wheel for each day of the week? Swap monthly? Displayed on the wall and fondled on the quiet?
You and Zany need to see someone about these fetishes😀
Only got a Damd but it has helped me understand this very personal issue.

My fetish's also include :
A fair few Subaru Impreza models and some very rare items from older franchises that you can't buy or get :)

Gear knobs :D but these are thrown in the cupboard not to be seen till one day I'll just sell .them all as a full lot with the car

I had a fair few spoilers in the collection also but sold them and only hanging on to the newage ra-r carbon item which doesn't take much space up but sold the gb270 & the prodrive bug items as they did take to much space up wish I hadn't tho to be honest

If an item is fitted, it has to work.

So a wheel with an airbag would have to work, if non-airbag wheel fitted, it doesn't. So this applies to cars with rear seats removed not requiring rear seat belts for example. Similarly, if you carry a spare wheel, the tyre must conform to the legal requirements. But you don't have to carry a spare wheel....

If you have HIDs and light washers and auto-dip, they both have to work. But you can have HIDs that have neither parts fitted.

Nah, the currently 'decommissioned' ones are sitting, rather unceremoniously, in their respective boxes out of sight.

It's only the equivalent to collecting things, at the end of the day. Albeit, a slightly eccentric 'hobby'.

Actually, there's one more wheel I have my eye on..........

hedgecutter 01 October 2017 07:37 PM

Don't hold back

joz8968 01 October 2017 08:01 PM

lol

Life's too short and all that.

Jonny Park 02 October 2017 02:03 AM

I have an OMP WRC currently on car & every few months alternate it with a Sabelt.
I also have a very rare two spoke Personal that I've had for years that has never been fitted to a car.You see some lovely cars about & some people fit hideous wheels on them along with equally awful gear knobs & pedals.
