Sti v3 running 1s ecu???

Hi guys

i have a fully decatted sti version 3. It is supposed to be running 314 bhp. I have just checked the ecu and it is marked as a 1s ecu- is this normal for the saloon sti v3? What is the map like on the 1s ecu - what is stick bhp map and is it aggressive mapped?

dies this ecu have ability for piggy
back? The ecu wires looked spliced

It appears some gf8 sti v3 cars had this 1s ecu but so did the gc8 wrx. My car is a gc8 sti. Starting to worry about the engine being swapped for a wrx one now!!

Clearly shows same ecu in wrx and sti.

I feel a prat now. How was I mixing that up!
Is the 1s ecu an aggressive map as standard - what are the characteristics of the base map?
How does the same ecu run on different engines(wrx v sti) with different turbos? Strange.
Is the 1s ecu able to be remapped? If not what is my cheapest way of having the ecu remapped?

Thank you

Is there not a rolling road anywhere near you? If you are getting 314 bhp from the standard (is it?) then I'd be tempted to leave it, you're not going to squeeze much more out before you're into serious £'s.
The 97/98 cars suffered from piston slap - mine still has it - proves it's all genuine :) any sign of this on yours?

In terms of how aggressive the V3 STi setup is, mine will redline at something like 7400 rpm with no noticeable loss of power till past 7000, most STi's run out of puff before 6500 rpm. From a rolling start I could keep up with a 470 bhp rs4, he could get off the line quicker but he couldn't pull away - and he later destroyed 1st and 2nd gears.

Like I mentioned somewhere, I had intended to rip the engine out in the winter of 2006 till I went to the rolling road day (thread still on SIDC) and I realised how good the engine was - and I wasn't planning a mega build at that stage.

V3 STi ECU needs a daughter board fitted, can't do anything with the standard ECU.

I'll dig out my ECU on Sunday (away tomorrow) and let you see what mine looks like.

That's gents! Sounds like I need a rolling road and fully agree if making 314 then leaving it well alone lol. Would be good to hear what ecu you are running too. Wonder what the difference between sti v3 on a 1s v 6s ecu is?
Yes I had piston slap from cold on 5-30 oil but have disappeared on 10-60 millers cfs nt - not xheaonbut what an oil

The reason I got confused on the ecu thing is because it shows only gf8 96/97 sti had a 1s ecu- all gc8 were wrx. My vin states a gc8. Is anybody able to tell me what ecu my car should have came with? 1997 sti v3

Don you are once again a top man. My car came with a 6s originally but is running a 1s now. Makes me wonder what engine and turbo are under the hood now........is there any easy way to tell engine and turbo. codes from within engine bay?
