Is this mileage too high?
Hello
As title suggests, I'm thinking about getting a wrx wagon (or a focus st, can't decide!) I've came across following ad which is local and I'm not sure if mileage is too high or not, it is on 123k backed up with FSH but not sure on how reliable these are at this mileage. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...istance&page=1 Thanks in advance for any replies on this! Cheers liam |
Tbh mate i would say yes the milage is way too high if its still stock and on the original engine. Standard 2.5s like to go pop

If it was going to go "pop" with the common 2.5 problems surely that would of happened by now?
I saw a 07 hawk wrx wagon with PPP and 147000 miles for sale at a local dealer for 3795, sold it no problem too. |
I actually went to see that one, it's been advertised for a while. Knock on left turn and drivers side rocker gasket, possibly head gasket is weeping.

if you want a decent one my old one is up for sale.

Cheers for the replays, I know nothing about scoobies (always had fords) thanks for the info. Is there much difference in Drive between 2.0 and 2.5? Also I think I like the looks of the blob eye better than the hawk eye. Is there a big difference in drive in the two models? As there is hardy anything near me to try out

The 2.0 litre are a stronger engine 2.5 has better low end grunt I've a hawk with 31000 miles only problem I've had is with rear shock knock which is a common fail on impreza 2.5 suffer ringland failure as well but I've seen no sign mine going yet

Did you know tax for the year is 500 quid on the hawks? Only a few built before a certain date are not.

To qualify for the lower tax bracket I think the car needs to have been registered prior to 31st March 2005. |

I had a 55 plate hawk sti and a friend had a 06 blob at the same time both in the lower bracket :thumb: |
Cheers for all the replies, I've got my heart set on a blob eye wrx now I think!

For what it's worth, 106,000 on a 2.5 here...... No issues at ~370
As for the 2.5 going pop, if mapped appropriately then there is no reason why it shouldn't last. |
Its the 2.5 sti that was more likely to suffer Ringland failure. Although all of the 2.5 engines can suffer from it, it's much rarer in the wrx models. As long as there's no oil leaks, clutch is OK and timing belt is done, engine should be fine Imo. Best of luck with it.
