steering wheel shaking when front right unloaded
bit of a weird one, car is a hawk STi.
when travelling at motorway speeds, changing lanes and unloading the front right wheel I get strong vibrations and shaking in the steering wheel. cant get to a ramp yet, I suspected ball joints but no knocking over bumps etc, any ideas? thanks |
wheel bearing?

Do you get a vibration when braking ? Could be a sticky piston or a warped disc
|
Or the wheels and tyres unbalanced. I'm going through the same thing at the moment so I've decided to send off my front calipers for a refurb.
|
no wheel noise so unlikely to be a bearing.
its fine under braking so that rules out the discs. its bizarre, hammers the steering wheel at speed with only the slightest change of direction. thanks |
Have the wheels balanced and see what happens mate. Could be worn bushes also.
|
took the car to RCM, olly went out in it and gave it a going over on the ramp.
no problems with anything found - its doing my head in. the car is still shaking turning at speed and is doing it over some slow speed stuff now also. grrr. |
