steering wheel shaking when front right unloaded

bit of a weird one, car is a hawk STi.

when travelling at motorway speeds, changing lanes and unloading the front right wheel I get strong vibrations and shaking in the steering wheel.

cant get to a ramp yet, I suspected ball joints but no knocking over bumps etc, any ideas?

thanks

wheel bearing?

Do you get a vibration when braking ? Could be a sticky piston or a warped disc

Or the wheels and tyres unbalanced. I'm going through the same thing at the moment so I've decided to send off my front calipers for a refurb.

no wheel noise so unlikely to be a bearing.

its fine under braking so that rules out the discs. its bizarre, hammers the steering wheel at speed with only the slightest change of direction.

thanks

Have the wheels balanced and see what happens mate. Could be worn bushes also.

took the car to RCM, olly went out in it and gave it a going over on the ramp.

no problems with anything found - its doing my head in.

the car is still shaking turning at speed and is doing it over some slow speed stuff now also.
