2002 bugeye build

Right I thought I'd keep a log of what I do to my 2002 wrx bug just so I can look back on what it was and how much money I've literally blown on a wrx!
I bought the car last month fairly standard with the exception of a stainless cat back system.
My aim is 350hp and for it to look "nice"
Here is the car as bought

So far I have swapped out the fuel pump for a 340ltr one **** make but seems decent so far.... had no issues as yet (real easy job I was surprised)
Decat up pipe (bitch of a job)
Front mount intercooler 99% plumbed in (nightmare with seized bolts on the original crash bar) just need a reduced 90 bend to connect to turbo
Large KnN filter that will be connected to a silicon inlet pipe that I haven't fitted as yet!
I have a set of pink injectors to fit this weekend along with a decat down pipe

once all that is fitted I'm looking at a vf43 turbo then get it all mapped in..... I'm thinking either scoobyclinic or Scooby world? I live in Shropshire and ideally want something abit more local to get to don't fancy driving with all the extras on without it mapped in.

then its on to the bodywork, I'm gonna swap the small wind for a larger sti wing and I'm toying with arch extensions before I either have it resprayed or wrapped a different colour I really do like the audi nardo grey but oddly also like the Hyundai blue that's knocking about (light pastel)

then onto the alloys swap them out for some nicer 18s then uprate to the sti brembo brake set up from there I will see what else I'm going to do

So finally got the front end back on with the new vf35 fully fitted and intercooler all tightened up!

Just gotta wait til Friday to pick up the new 3" turbo back system from mb developments then heat wrap it before fitting

What's the thinking behind the money & effort spent on the FMIC - a simple STi TMIC swap would suffice on a WRX?

Porting & wrapping the exhaust pre-turbo will you a great bang for buck if you like getting your hands dirty.

madmattwrx 28 September 2017 11:36 PM

It would however I like the look of the FMIC plus makes working in the bay easier without a topmount in the way...

I'm gonna wrap the hot side of the IC pipe work and the full exhaust from turbo back then shove a jacket on the turbo to keep things as cool as possible

TECHNOPUG 29 September 2017 11:58 AM

If you port and wrap pre-turbo it will increase exhaust gas speed and therefore improve spool.

Good luck with the project pal
