Power steering pump seal. Legacy JDM

There is air in the power steering system of my 2006 jdm legacy. I think the main seal/o ring has gone and I can't find a replacement. ICP can't supply a kit, ebay only shows items from USA. Local subaru main dealer says I'll have to change the whole pump. I even looked on euro car parts in desperation a drew a blank. Anyone got any suggestions?

Most only come as complete units now, unless you can get a re-manufactured equivalent from the US.

Have you tried bleeding the system or changing the fluid??

Power steering bleeding procedure

Fill the power steering reservoir with the proper fluid and leave the cap off. Raise the front wheels off the ground and support them. Without starting the engine, grasp one wheel and slowly turn it in until it stops. Wait a few seconds, and turn out until the wheel stops. Repeat this procedure about ten times, waiting several seconds between cycles. Top off the reservoir, replace the cap and start the engine. If noise is still present, repeat the procedure.

Thanks Don, you're a star. After going lock to lock in the car park the noise goes as the system gets rid of the air. But there is definitely some fluid seeping out at the top of the unit. I suspect the o ring right in the middle. But at least now I know the part number.

Part number for the "O"-ring marked 34488B (part group number) is either

34439AE020 or 34439FG000 depending upon which pump is fitted which would need your VIN to confirm.

I've used those part numbers to raise a case on subaru uk, so I'll wait to see what they come back with. Thanks again for the help.

Well the very nice people at subaru uk have sent me a new o ring FOC.
You didn't get service like that from Ford!
Thanks again for the help Don.
