Are all td04ls the same weather fitted to a classic or a newer car?

in general yes as long as your talking about a post 1997 car

older classic Auto's and JDM wagons used a top entry variant of the TD04 and this will not fit

Ok cool got one off an 97 to go on a 55wrx and they look the same both front entry just the markings are different ( one stamped in one cast on etc) so thought i best check.

On this theme guys.What would be the natural progression if you were to go decat with esl ecu & already had this turbo as standard fit? Am looking at replacing the top mount also? All this with bigger injectors so what turbo?

Depends what kind of power your after. I'd go sports cat, and full stainless steel exhaust from manifold to back box and updated fuel pump. You'd be looking at anything upto 280bhp. Anymore and u'd need bigger turbo and injectors.
