Engine rebuild advice

Hello and thank you in advance for advise given.
I'm in the process of getting bits together to do an engine rebuild and have a question..... if I'm using a new crank and new acl bearings do I need to check/ worry about main bearing clearances?? I'm thinking not as all is brand new but want to check /ask advise to be sure . Most posts I've seen mention clearances on rebuilds using old cranks.
Cheers

Yes you need to check them with plastigauge as sometimes the manufacturing tolerances aren't good enough and can leave a clearance too big even on a new crank with new shells. Especially when using aftermarket shells.

I check mains and big ends on every engine I rebuild wether using new or used parts, doesn't take long and saves stripping it all down again.

Thanks for your quick reply.
What would you do if the clearances where incorrect?

I'd personally check the clearances with a decent set of micrometers and a bore gauge as well as plastigauge.

Cheers for the replies / help.
I purchased a second hand (only 1500 miles)rear thrust converted 2.1 cdb with Mahle power pack pistons all built up by a well known Bristol based engine building company.. the previous owner ran in the engine/ had it tuned to 500+bhp.... decided he wanted more so took his crank and rods to make a 2.3 so I became the new owner of the block and pistons...

Will check and double check everything when I do the rebuild...
Just another quick one..... do you use standard length conrods on a 2.1 stroker engine with these power pack pistons and ej25 crank? I have a set of forged Williams motorsport conrods .... they up to the job?? (Swapped them for a cdb I had).
Thanks again
