Cleaning up my turbo?

1 Attachment(s)
Just been cleaning up my spare turbo and some tiny pieces of cloth went inside, what can I put in to wash them out with?

Cotting bud dipped in oil might work.

Rinse it out with petrol

I did think about petrol.

I like the cotton bud idea aswell.

Either that or a bottle brush and some brake cleaner

I think I'd use brake cleaner in an aerosol can and spray liberally into the cavity to get the bits out, and then you can also flush it out from the top, so to speak (as in, spray cleaner into the top of the turbo), and if you spin the shaft at the same time you'll get the cleaner dribble through.

After this, though, I'd put a bit of engine oil into the turbo again (in the oil inlet, obviously), and spin the shaft again, so that it's not dry for next time you fit the turbo).

The cotton fluff will end up in the sump, and hopefully be caught by the oil filter, but better safe than sorry, eh? :)

Sounds a good plan.
