Which lowering springs for my Type R?

I have a version 3 type r that sits on version 6 inverted sti shocks and standard springs. The only other mods are a 24mm adjustable rear anti roll bar with solid droplinks. 17" speedlines ST2's.

I'm wanting the car to look more level and slightly lower as the fronts always seem to sit higher than neccessary. I don't want to head into being too low that creates handling problems as it's fine for me as it is.

What's available that returns a decent ride on the b road?

Cheers,

Wayne.

Currently v3 or v6sti springs?

Wheel width, et and tyre size?

V6 sti springs, I think ET52 on ST2's and 215/45/17 hankook evo12

Definitely change the internal bump stops.

The P11L springs are P1 springs (194/157), but 6mm lower at the front.

The wr15r/t springs (230/200) are a very similar rate to v6sti springs (237/195). They are 6mm lower front and rear, than the P11L.

With an increased forward rake and bump stop combination, you might find you need less rear bar, for the same balance.

You might try disconnecting one end-link, where it attaches to the rear bar, and see how your ride quality changes, on a b-road - It's not a handling test! It might help you decide if it's the spring rates or the big bar that's the ride issue.

Inverted struts generally ride 6mm higher, due to the increased static gas pressure.

Your tyres have a 5mm smaller arch gap, than the above.
Full to empty fuel tank, is a 10mm difference in rear ride height, on the P11l's. It's more like 6mm rear ride height difference, on a full to empty tank, with the wr15's.

The p11l's sound right to me as I'm happy with rear height but not the front as it looks a tad too high. 6mm or even 10mm drop would look better.

The current ride is stiff but ok. Would I notice much between what I have and the softer p11l's?

Do you supply the springs?

This is how the car sits at present.

Changing to P11L springs will be an obvious difference in ride comfort, on b-roads - it's what Prodrive did to the P1, to make your current suspension b-road friendly.

The P11L springs with matching bump stops, for inverted Subaru struts, are £290 delivered.

P11L on Bilsteins - this was to soften the ride, from the higher-rate grey springs, that were originally paired with the Prodrive WR99 kit.
