SI-Drive bypass
 

Hi, I am looking to buy a Legacy B4 3 litre H6 with SI-Drive for my son. As I want to keep him alive, I wanted to know if anyone has experience of being able to “block” the system in Intelligent mode, so as to limit acceleration.

Superglue? Or ask a local mapper if it is possible ; as I understand it, si settings are just throttle input settings.

To block anything but "I" intelligent mode completely and foolproof I would think some form of re-map would be the answer. (re-mapping all three maps the same??).

It maybe possible to set Si-drive to "I" and then disconnect the SI-Drive selector and steering wheel switch.

However as in the safeguards section above, should a code be thrown (MIL) the system reverts to sport mode.

if you disconnect the switch I think it goes into limp mode - would be easier to learn him now to drive like a looney bin or buy him a 2.0 n/a but you could also get it mapped to set all three options to the I mode settings.

Is it not possible to add a restrictor into a vac pipe? Not sure on how this would work on a Legacy. I know the classic impreza was different to the newage with the way the restrictor works.


Certainly worth a punt for the sake of a few pence unless I'm being thick :lol1:

restricting the boost may not help here, on the newer ECU's if your too far away from target boost it starts recording false knock events and pulls the timing back even further which could make things worse for the engine (not enough timing is bad just like too much timing). If it needs limited then you can get it mapped to enforce a speed limit, boost target, torque output etc. regardless of the SI drive request so that may be the way to go.

Its perfectly possible to do what you require by mapping if you try and change wiring etc you are asking for a massive head ache to be honest .. especially if its an auto

If you have a local EcuTek tuner he should be able to help at a cost of course, if he is not sure what to do then if you get me the ecu part number then I can make a file up and code it for his dongle to flash in if that information is provided
