Boot lid gas struts

Wondering if anyone's ever fitted a set of gas struts on the rear boot lid?

Recently fitted a GRP boot lid and ducktail spoiler which is lighter than the standard WRX combo but too heavy for 1 torsion rod.

Would love to fit gas struts as an alternative and wondering whether anyone has any info on it such as parts, gas strut length/strength, where on/in the boot to fit? etc

No one has any info on such? :P

Once saw something on this, not quite dampers.
But changing torsion rod to ones used on spoilerless models.??

Could you not just remove one torsion bar, measure the distance between the holes and get a strut to fit... some of them swivel and are slightly adjustable.

bumping this thread again.

Tried to fit a single STI rod but not only is it still not strong enough to keep the boot lid up when the car's on a slight incline but fitting them really messes with the fitment of the boot lid as it seems to push it upwards when the boot is closed.

I am thinking of coming up with my own solution involving gas struts however just putting the feelers out incase anyone already had info such as where to mount them, suppliers or what strength struts to buy.
