Thanks to the tip from Trooper (and a dollop of tiger seal just in case) I've sorted out the bumper so everything lines up nicely.

I've also worked out why the n/s wheel arch liner felt loose. It slots into the bumper moulding, and the bumper moulding is attached at the side by a very small bracket, which is broken. I tried to tiger seal it but the cross section is so small there is not enough to glue. More thought required.

When cleaning the interior, I noticed the handbrake gaiter was ripped and pulled away from the frame.
I've used JF customs versions on my impreza and highly recommend them. The parts come quickly and are very good quality thick leather.
So, pull out the old (and clean yet more crud out from the trim):

I've also been looking into option around the stereo with CBS Automotive.
Currently the plan is to get rid of this flip out Japanese sat nav.

And fit a DAB/bluetooth unit in its place. This will then be wired into the McIntosh head unit. The head unit already has this button:

Which turns on the aux input. I think it's currently wired for the television in the back. So the plan will be to wire the TV into the new single din unit aux input, then plug the single din into the old McIntosh aux plug.
That does rely on the connections found when everything is pulled out. So, fingers crossed.

I had the headlight polishing kit out to give the wrx wagon's a clean so I gave the leggy a once over too; they've come up really well.

Thanks, if I can keep up the progress then I should get the leggy to where I want fairly soon. One thing I'm finding is the scarcity of upgrade parts. I'd like to fit a stiffer rear arb to dial out some understeer, but I can only find one whileline product that will fit.

If you're not already on UKLegacy.com, you might be able to find some bits there or guidance for where best to look.
There's also a member (Gerry) who I believe imports things from Japan, so he might be able to help too :)

However, when poking around underneath I found the n/s rear side skirt slight loose. Turns out I'm missing a trim clip.

Obviously with photobucket now demanding money, people are having to look for alternative hosting sites. I use Imgur which seems to work alright, but not as good as PB was.

So, partial success with the Radio.
The Japanese sat nav came out ok, but behind it there lay a monstrous mess of connections of varying standards of professionalism. It appears the sat nav was linked to the AUX input, not the TV.
However, the guys at CBS: (http://www.cbscentres.co.uk/)
have managed to get the new Kenwood DAB/Bluetooth in, plugged into the AUX in the back of the McIntosh head unit and that part works fine.
This set up means I get to retain the minidisc player!
However, where the audio out from the TV is plugged into remains a mystery, as does the wiring for the toll reader and the purpose of the various other gadgets under the drivers seat. Given the hourly rate at CBS is fairly steep I wan't keen for them to spend ages removing trim and investigating.
But at least I can stream music and listen to Digital Radio now.

there was a slightly musty smell so I'm hoping this will help.

There was also a strong smell of hot oil coming from user the bonnet after a drive.
A quick glance showed that the steering pump was covered in oil, there appeared to be a leak either from the hose (which was pushed on much too far) or from the top of the pump itself.
I've adjusted the hose and added a jubilee clip. Hopefully that'll help.

The steering pump was quite noisy first thing which would suggest air was getting into the system.

I've been trying to get the paintwork up to standard. I had one of these in the shed:

A 99p purchase from ebay. I'd previously used it on some side skirts that I'd fitted to my wrx wagon.
So after a snow foam and a thick application of wax I ran the polisher of the leggy. I was careful not to be too hard and keep the polisher moving. The end result was a definite improvement, with most of the fine scratches gone.

Just picked up the leggy from the body shop. After a lot of calling round I managed to find someone near cambridge who could waxoil the car and not charge a fortune for doing so.

It's starting to come together now.
Now to start shopping for some upgrades.

An alloy L bracket with holes in each end. Flatten and use the original clip hole for the plastic grommet. Drill a hole in the bumper section and use another grommet to hold it together.

Well that plan didn't last long.
On the way to work this morning I got flat tyre, changed it and found a huge rip in the side.
After changing it by the side of the M11 got back in and the car wouldn't start.
Ended up being recovered to a local independent who say the starter motor is knackered.
So, cash going on repairs rather than upgrades.

Uprated rear anti roll bar, bushes and saddles mounts.
As the rear arb mounts are prone to failing when a stiffer bar is used I've also got some of these:

They should be instead of. The theory is that they make the end of the mount into part of a triangle, then the only force should be a straight tension on the bracket with no lateral movement.

Steering pump woes.
 

The power steering pump on the leggy was fairly noisy. A bit a googling suggested it may be the o ring seal in the top bracket.
After some help from Don to track down what I needed the nice people at subaru uk sent me a new seal FOC.

This was very easy to change. However, I did spill some fluid, and as the pipes had been weeping I thought I'd top up the reservoir with some fresh fluid (ATF dextron 3).
All was good for a couple of days. Pump was less noisy and steering smoother.
Then I had to drive to Liverpool, some 200 miles from home. Got to the hotel, car running fine. Got up in the morning and as soon as I touched the wheel the pump made a horrible noise.
A quick check and I spotted the steering pump reservoir appeared to be full of pink mayonnaise.
I suspect some of the reason the pump was noisy was that it wasn't ATF in there. So the ATF I used to top it up with had combined with whatever was in there and made sludge.
When the fluid was up to temperature the noise died down, the fluid became more liquid but the steering felt bad. Notchy and stiff.
So I've just competely emptied the system and flushed a litre of fresh fluid through it.

Based on my experience with this car, the clips that subaru use to hold the hoses in place are rubbish and can let air in, so replace those with jubilee clips, change the seal and the fluid as per the above guide and make sure you get the air out, then it should make a difference. Assuming the pump isn't on it's way out.

Have you checked the tension on the PAS belt?

Belt is tight can see air bubbles when someone does lock to lock for me

Then replace the hose clips, o ring seal and fluids. It should only take 30 minutes and cost about £15 if you do it yourself.

Changed o ring today and clips no more noise :)

Good to hear you've sorted it. I don't know about you, but little niggling issues like that really get on my nerves.

Another package was waiting for me at home. A second cat delete pipe, thanks to Hayward and Scott. Going to fit this at the same time as getting the car re-mapped. Hope to release a bit more twinscroll howl.
Sadly the Whiteline arb mounts don't fit, by a long way (about 15cm) so I've had to order the avo mounts from the USA.
