Depends how much rust is on your car.. mine is fresh from japan and not a spec of rust so I just degressed, powerwashed, scrubbed all crud off the underneath(very little as dry weather weekend car) , I just removed the wxhaust system and brakes as im working on them but you can go mad and remove a lot of stuff underneath, then I let dry for a few weeks and undersealed it with Dynax UC and UB , and SB in the sills, cavitys etc

Its like painting a car, the more prep work and time spent pre pairing will see better results..

Im taking sideskirts bumpers, inner arch plastics, diff , exhaust, shocks etc off then get cracking
defo with you in the prep work and time spent
I’m future proofing it more than attacking any corrosion as there isn’t any at the moment
prevention is much better than cure... :)

I'm sure a lot of guys on here would throw up at the thought of non big brand parts, however after my front left calliper locked up again warping the disk (this was the second time, it had a full refurb after the first). I decided an entire new set was needed.

Not having the budget for Brembos or something of that like brand new I took a chance on these along with braided hela lines.

Performance wise they are leaps and bounds over a stock set up which is what I had. For the money they are pretty dam good. Time will tell on the durability side.

17's. Genuine spec c ra alloys. Have 18s on atm but want a bit more compliance on my favourite bumpy back roads!

Anyone know where to get a new replacement tail gate rubber seal for a bugeye wagon? My searches have come up blank so far.

Don Clark 29 March 2018 11:04 AM

Weatherstrip - Subaru (63516FE000)

Probably not something lying on the shelf at a Dealers.

Fishbowlhead 29 March 2018 11:26 AM

Thanks don 😘

Found one on eBay for £40 when searching for weather strip. Not cheap but kind of essential if you don't want a leaky boot.

jaygsi 02 April 2018 12:10 AM

Nice find that, i wouldn't turn my nose up at them, i started refurbing mine, but gave up and bought a cheap new set.

Work just fine, only thing i would have done is resprayed them like i did.

Really adds to the look.

Finally swapped my black Perrin induction kit to a red one. 3 bloody months I waited for it to arrive. EBay sellers , selling stuff they don't have in stock. Also painted a few bits wrinkle black a few weeks ago so I'm happy how it's all turned out. Had to fit the snorkel back on as the road dirt was spraying all over the engine bay on wet days.

yeah it worked out well. Used a heat gun as obviously the strutbrace wouldn't fit in an oven and a few bits were easier painted on the car rather than removing.

That’s mint very nice finish indeed given me few ideas :)

Any chance of a pic of the things you used for the job please like the spray can and what you used to prep as I’d like to do some bits on mine in the summers

got this paint on eBay. Just heated up the part with heat gun , laid on a couple of coats (goes on quite uneven, very unlike normal rattle can paint) then blast with heat gun till it wrinkles up. Some bits wrinkle more than others, I'm guessing because of how uneven the paint goes on. So if u can master the application of the paint the end result is better.
