How do i improve fuel consumption
I have a Subaru legacy 2005 model 2.0cc. Consumption is quite high, averaging about 8km/liter. I have changed oil, oil filter, air cleaner and also changed plugs with recommended ones. However i still get less mpg on average. What do i need to check, all possible checks

Around 22mpg,wish mine did that much :)
Saying that mine is a 20year old Impreza turbo which is pretty normal. Try resetting the ECU this will reset the fuel learning tables and might help a little? Also a faulty/failing O2 sensor can increase fuel consumption so can a faulty/blocked catalytic converter, could be a number of things really? Do you have a heavy right foot? |
Buy a different car or don't drive it so much. :lol1:
Sounds about right to be fair 12/15 litres to 100km you can get them down to as low as 9 litres 100km but that's on motorway at around 70/80mph... once these engines go over 3000 rpm they start to drink... so if you're going up to 4/5k rpm in 1st and 2nd that's where you're spending your money. If you take it easy you may be able to average about 10/11 litres to 100km... with or without a turbo these engines consume a fair amount of fuel... more so when driven spiritedly. |
