any one north east fancy helping fitting up pipe :)
any one local to give guidance to fit a up pipe lol
fitted downpipe etc that was ok but this seems alittle annoying hehe can buy you some beers n that jazz |
North East is a bloody big place!
Should have done it when the downpipe was off. It's a turbo off job really. |
Yes in Washington 20 mins from Newcastle and Sunderland
Searching and turbo seems it can stay on place |
Good luck with leaving it in place, it's a lot less hassle to remove it though.
|
You can leave it in place, but you will need to remove downpipe anyway.

Thanks for that
The only bit I don't like is lifting the engine up, is that 100% nessercary?? Only way to get clearance for the larger turbo flange past the chassis rails. the forester engine sits lower than an Impreza one due to the spacers fitted between chassis and front crossmember. Easiest way - remove turbo and pull it out via the top |
Removing down pipe and turbo is by far the easiest way to change the up pipe. It isn't a big job. The hardest part is loosening bolts that are seized solid due to the heat
|
I never remove the turbo...down pipe off, undo the engine mounts, jack the engine up and remove from underneath...job done.

Glad you sorted it mate....did you leave the turbo in situ when doing the job?
|
Harvey Smith 'trick' up-pipes are NOT solid but have a specific slip-joint (as well as being specifically sized for various applications)
the std up-pipe has a bellows style flexi joint all to allow for heat expansion |
Dont be so easy to push this as an easy job
yes its easy if the turbo bolts undo Did mine undo ? No queue turbo removal and hrs of bashing to remove the nuts from the studs so i could re-use my turbo yes its an easy job, so is giving birth .................... |
