Turbo timer
Its it worth putting a turbo timer on my sti if so what is the best one to have
|
the only answer to this is NO.
waste of money, look like a ****, invalidates insurance |
Good to know. Best to just it idle for a sec before turning off ?
|
just drive off boost for a mile or two before getting home, saves you also sitting outside your house with your engine running at any time.
|
Shouldn't be too hard the last mile to my house is all speed bumps
|
I have an Apexi turbo timer with plug and play impreza harness included for sale if you're interested? Yours for £30 delivered. PM me if interested.
I have one fitted to my FSTI and it doesn't void my insurance. |
actually they can and do invalidate your insurance, especially if you have declared a Cat 1 alarm which most scoobs will have on I imagine?
A turbo timer invalidates a Cat 1 certification and arguably an insurance company would have serious questions about having an engine running whilst no one was in the car. basically I know you are selling one, its a useless bit of kit, driving off boost for a mile or two before turning off is far less risky, far less prone to any insurance disputes (whether you agree with me or not) and you aren't a nuisance to any neighbours with leaving your car idling outside your house every time. |
I'm not saying they don't, I'm saying check with your insurance company. Mine didn't.
Mine came on the car from import. I didn't fit it, it was already on there. I had a cat 1 alarm fitted just after I bought the car and the turbo timer has never caused me a problem with insurance companies. |
My bug has a turbo timer fitted which was there when the alarm was fitted and is declared on my insurance.
|
It matters not if they are insurance friendly. They are a total waste of time.
