I must say, I'm quite surprised at this.

But then, I don't know how much is due to the exchange rate. Things have changed a lot in just a few months.

Personally though, I wouldn't, because there were plenty of them brought across when the pound was high, and if the price was, say, £20,000 before, then the price of these previously imported cars doesn't just jump up simply because the pound value changes.

I thought these were worth high teens, low twenties not too long ago...?

Seems a shame, because I wouldn't mind one, but not at those prices. EVen when I sold my last subaru (22b), I thought the prices were outrageous back then, and they seem to have shot up even more.

It would be No from me I am afraid, nice low mileage but well over priced imho.

A no from me:nono: regardless how rare it is, it will never be a proper classic except in Subaru circles and never appreciate in price like a 22B, £45k is very strong money and once you driven it a few years and put 15-20k on the clock it will be just like any other Type RA-R and be worth half of the £45k you paid for it!!!

Look what £45k gets you??

No from me... purely and simply because I don't think there is that much of a difference between the RAR and a Spec C RA or just a Spec C to warrant the £25k + price hike, it's the perfect example of paying for the badge.

But then again I don't think the 22B is worth the premium over a Type R either, so I'm probably not the best person to listen to.

Exactly.
So many fantastically better cars available for that price.
No doubt some eejit will part with his 45K for an 11 year old piece of Jap scrap

Wow that's quite a lot of money, if I had that sort to spend on a car I can think of other motors to buy!

In objective terms the 22B is of course not worth the premium – however it’s collectable because of its close links to Subaru rally cars during rally’s heyday, and also it was a UK model that was reviewed favourably in the motoring press back in the day.

The RA-R has neither the motorsport heritage nor the reputation being a JDM only model. Personally I also think the price is opportunistic, but good luck to Hurst if they can achieve it and perhaps it will cast a halo effect that will help to bring up the rest of the Impreza market, whose prices (22b and P1 excepted) haven’t soared during the asset bubble as much as most other performance brands.

I would rather buy a gtr or m4. If I wanted a proper track weapon, buy a dc5 integra for under 10k.

Agree re the 22b and heritage, but as a driving proposition it's in the same ball park as the RAR vs Spec C most of us wouldn't be able to tell the difference and even for those that could it's not a £70k / 30k difference respectively, from a driving perspective.

I don't think Subaru values have done too badly considering the volume of cars available... they're like dog poo compared to something like Nissan 240z and other much rarer JDM cars... supply or lack of is what drives the pricing.
