Advice. What Caliper is 1995 classic Impreza WRX STI

As above. Mechanics just quoted me £120+VAT per caliper to replace, as you can imagine I want to do a bit of shopping before deciding to go with them.

should be subaru 2 pots i believe. have a look on breakers and for sale section on here. you should be able to get a pair second hand for around that money not each.

You could try Godspeed or scoobyworx they might do an exchange recon pair.
There are also some on eBay for £145+£15 p&p with new pads for a pair.

Lovely cheers guys

Ended up using my local SC motor factors got them £70 each.

ossett2k2 20 July 2017 06:23 PM

Nice one, saved yourself a few pennies from what your mechanic wanted :)

4 pots won't fit behind standard wheels for that year car so i'd guess his wheels are OEM?

pdis90 21 July 2017 01:01 PM

Yes oem 16 inch gold alloys v

ossett2k2 21 July 2017 01:42 PM

V1/2 OEM wheels won't take 4 pots V3> will

pdis90 21 July 2017 08:55 PM

Got a set of 2 pot from sc motors they even took my old ones at 25 plus vat each. Only trouble is now my brake pedal feels like it has more travel before it works properly and also my brakes stink so think I need some better discs and pads!

ossett2k2 21 July 2017 09:08 PM

Did you bleed the brakes after the caliper change?
Decent pads&disc will also make a big difference :thumb:

Where did that other dudes posts go? The guy who said your wheels would be ok with 4 pots? His messages have disappeared :Suspiciou

pdis90 21 July 2017 09:09 PM

Got a garage next to my work to do it. I don't have the spare time myself go do it. Think it feels like a bleed is needed. Oh yeah how strange...

ossett2k2 21 July 2017 09:17 PM

I'd take it back and ask them to bleed em,you shouldn't have much travel on the pedal.

pdis90 22 July 2017 04:49 PM

All is fine apparently when they inspected...

ossett2k2 22 July 2017 05:06 PM

You will get soft brakes from a classic especially if they're 2 pots but you shouldn't have a long pedal travel.
Personally I would do my own brakes and make sure they're right.
Obviously I can't know how your brakes feel.

Did the garage say what condition the pads and discs were in?
Does the car still stop well?

pdis90 22 July 2017 05:18 PM

Yeah stops. Pads and discs replaced in February. I may be over thinking it.

personally i would have taken the opportunity to fit four pots and a decent set of pads. my first scoob was running 320 bhp and some idiot pulled out in front of me on a dual carriageway and the brakes just couldnt stop the car and i almost ploughed into him. the origional brakes were shockingly bad even on a standard car.

That would mean buying new wheels as already said.
I had a typera with the same 2 pots and with decent discs&pads they were perfectly fine for standard power.
