My local dealer put a claim in for my clutch (Juddering). IM will only replace the clutch after it has been inspected.

This can go either way:

1 If the inspection fails, I will have to pay for a new clutch and labour (£500)

2 If the inspection passes, IM will cover all the costs.

Should I take the chance and go for it or just leave as the car has done 31K on a MY99.

My dealer replaced mine, due to clutch judder, at 17K with no problems. The new one judders the same and they have offered to replace again.

Does it only judder when cold, or all the time?

It just Judders when cold. I know they all do that, but I thought a new one might cure it.

They told me they had fitted a P1 clutch and flywheel. Felt great for a few weeks, then started juddering again.

I would go for a warranty replacement. If you get it, at least you'll know you won't need a new clutch for another 40/50K.

I'll give IM a ring tomorrow and explain the situation and see if they will replace it without a inspection.

Judders when cold here.

I've got an MY99 with 25K miles on the clock.

The clutch does judder when cold, and sometimes when the engines warm, but normally when I get the biting point wrong without enough right foot action!

I've got into a habit of using the 'gas' pedal slightly harder when the cars cold, and almost slipping the clucth for the first few pull aways. Not sure if it'll do any good in the long run, but it gets rid of the judder PDQ.

I was in the same situation as you, MY99 34k miles, clutch was changed. I paid for the clutch but insisted they put the claim in. I had paid £500. IM athorised the claim without inspecting the clutch. This was done under the original 3 year warranty.

Could get rid of your clutch plate PDQ too :)

So what if they all do that? Merc A-Classes all fell over at the beginning. If Subaru have created a design fault, why can't they fix it?

My Terzo juddered when cold, very irritating.
