Stock Tweeter setup on a Bugeye WRX?

Hi,

Hoping someone can help as after numerous google searches and studying images i still can't quite work it out.

I would like to replace the speakers in my Bugeye WRX and understand it has a tweeter behind the door and a low/mid woofer in the door.

I would like to replace with components but ones that have built in crossovers as I've found them good before and do away with the crossover box etc...

So, question is, on a stock setup i understand the tweeters have a tiny crossover built into the wires but is the tweeter fed by the main woofer or does it have its own wires running back to the HU?

I don't want to run new wires through the doors so my aim was to just plonk speakers in place and go.

Thanks!

George

Tweeter is fed from the woofer.

Bear in mind that the stock HU is more of an issue than the speakers and tweeters down by your ankles is going to sound pretty poor.

The tweeter and woofer share the same output form the stereo, so just 2 wires :thumb:

Fantastic, thats what I was after.

I have a HU to go in too, the standard system is rather terrible but then Subaru did not build the car for in car audio!

One last question! whilst you're all being so helpful! Can I assume the lower kick panel in the footwell houses the speaker cables from the door in the door loom? Just thinking I may want to tap into them to amplify the speakers...

I think all the wires go under the dash.

You want to run a Line Level Converter to drive some amps?

ah i see, i'm thinking of my MR2 and assumed it would be the same.

I've always 'amped' my components rather than running them from the HU even if it is aftermarket.

So i wanted to intercept the wiring coming in from the doors so i don't have to run new ones and run those to an amp and then from the amp back to the HU using RCA's.

Sound about right?

I guess i just need to poke around under the dash to find them!

Just run fresh wire from the amp all the way to the speaker. All you are saving is a bit of time routing to the doors but using inadequate OEM wire and introducing unnecessary joins.
