26 inside. 32 outside. Receptionist opens window
Doesn't bother me as I'm in the workshop. But the pollen levels are taking their toll :( |
Lol... It's almost 4am here and it's 27.4 degrees, been up for 2hrs because it's too hot to sleep and I forgot to kill the mozzies in my bedroom so they've been well fed tonight... now I'm waiting for the mozzie tablet to do it's thing and the smell to go away... think I'll have to compensate myself tomorrow with a couple of beers and an afternoon nap.
It's a hard life. :lol1: |

Been up to 37 here, having 36 today and possibly 38 tomorrow, but storms forecast for Thursday. With this heat, could be some good'uns.
|
LOL at heatwave :D
The sun comes out for a few days and the country grinds to a halt, it snows and the country grinds to a halt you really do have to laugh :D You also need government warnings and it is practically a national emergency :D http://news.sky.com/story/amber-aler...-june-10921160 |

Oh and no malaria here, just a pain when i'm trying to go back to sleep and they're buzzing in my ears and fresh bites itching like crazy. Didn't manage the nap but just had a couple of beers. :D |

And that's why. The ones that make the buzzing noise (can't remember if male or female?) are the ones that cannot pass on malaria. It's the silent ****ers you need to bother about lol It was on QI don't'ya'know. |
Bullcack.
They both buzz but only female are carriers It's only certain types that carry of course . Probably safe in Croatia ! |
It's just like at school.... being taught wrong 'facts'.
Bad QI! |
Before the spread of misinformation gets too far out of hand ;):
Myth Both male and female mosquitoes bite. Fact Only the female mosquito bites. She uses the protein from the blood she takes to develop her eggs. The male mosquito feeds on nectar from flowers. Myth Only the female mosquito makes a buzzing sound. Fact The buzzing sound that you hear is made by the beating of the mosquitoes wings. The wings of both males and females make a buzzing sound. Females make a higher pitched sound than males. Most people never hear the male mosquito because it doesn’t bite. |
And there it is.
Cool and the gang. |

Source: http://www.cmcd.org/biology-2/mosquito-myths-facts/ Croatia doesn't have malaria, but there are some tiger mozzies here which can apparently carry meningitis. Oh and it's 33 in the coolest shady place around my house at the min, probably another 5 degrees above that in the sun... which is why i'm inside typing this. You have mozzies in the uk too these days so don't be too surprised if you hear buzzing in your half asleep state. |
Fact
The midges at Kielder water Nothumbria will eat you alive in one night. :D My mate survived, still has the scars to prove it :lol1: |
For the record, the Met has no 'official' definition of a heatwave.
But went on to state they consider a heatwave to be 5 or more days in succession with peaks of at least 30C. |

So what's the hottest place you've been to?
I've never experienced Sahara/Gobi 130 plus stuff. Mostly just hot and humid like West Africa and Washington DC in the summer. Think I can take dry heat but high humidity is a killer for me. David |
Been Vegas, that was mid 30s at 3am lol in the day it was over 40.
Also went through death valley on way back to California, that was so hot you couldnt touch the car windows. |

I can cope better with dry heat-USA, but UK and European hot temperatures of 30 deg is too much with the humidity.
I was out on a club run last weekend, a couple of the guys loved it, 70miles at 30deg was too much for me, in the end and was glad to be dropped near home. A few silly buggers went on to do 90 miles going past their homes and doing a loop. |
I thought the record was 38.5 , brogdale farm 2003 .

One of the best things I ever did was install ac in a few rooms of the house when I refurbed a few years ago.
One of the rooms that has ac is my bedroom which means I get a fantastic nights sleep when everybody else is suffering. It seemed like a waste of money at the time but really glad I did. Not sure what the leccy bill will be though! |

Our new project will have AC throughout from Mitsubishi. Solar to offset electricity costs. Don't care install cost I'm having it:D
Good plan, we don't need it that often in this country but when you do its lovely. As well as the master bedroom I had it fitted in the open plan kitchen/living room because there is loads of glass and of course kitchen appliances giving off heat. I also put a small unit in the 'media' room because of all the heat given out by the various gadgets. So the rooms I use the most are all very comfortable. My two boys aren't so impressed that their bedrooms are sweltering hot though:lol1: |

Hmm so you won't use winter tyres but you will fit mega expensive air conditioning for the few days you need it. The mind boggles. |
