Gutted. Woke up this morning to find my 911 Turbo S gone.:cry::cry:

Took me 6 months to find the right car.

On the plus side at least nobody was hurt.

Still gutted though, loved the car and it was in quite a unique colour combo.

I'm sure it'll turn up if its not bust for parts already!

Since December last year

hmm, gets some pics up, anything unique about it for people to look out for?

That's very bad luck. Keyless entry is very vulnerable to hacking theft unfortunately.

It has a tracker but I slept through the call at 0200hrs and only realised the car was gone at 0800hrs. Now they aren't getting a signal which means either the it has been disabled or is in a container.

I got a fairly good deal on the car (it was 2nd hand) as I bought in the quiet sales month of December. I've had a quick look now and can't find a similar spec car for the same price ie they are about £5k more.

What happens in terms of the insurance valuation in this situation?

This is why I leave my keys downstairs. If they want it that bad, take it and get out. Don't want them coming upstairs, at least not until I've had time to load my shotgun!


Did you have GAP insurance on it?


This is why I'm not really that fussed about having a car like that any more. I was always a bit nervous when I had my R8. Always made a mental note when getting near to home as to what cars where following. If unsure, I'd keep driving.


I've always said I want a 911 Turbo, but scum like this just kind of put you off owning anything really nice.

They Get into the house for the keys or find some other way of getting it?

I've just been reviewing the cctv images. Two guys, one stands by the front door whilst one is near the car. Then they both walk away for a few minutes.

When they return one of them again stands by the front door again whilst the other then opens the car gets in starts it up, the other guy gets in and off they drive.

I have both sets of keys, the alarm is never triggered.

Unfortunately no gap insurance. This is now my big worry, I've had a quick look around and can't find a similar spec car for the same price.

But as Stilover said I'm not even sure I want another one now...

What with thieves, door dingers, petrol prices, and ever-worsening crowded roads, it certainly makes me question whether it's worth owning an expensive, fast car.

Peedee, I have no idea what they did, all I can tell you is that I have both sets of keys in my possession. The car had keyless entry/go, I'm not sure if that is relevant.

They gained entry to the car and started it up without the key and without triggering the alarm.

Really sorry to hear this, but the main thing, as you said, is that yourself or your family were hurt. Let's hope you get a decent payout:thumb:

Is this the same as the BMW thefts, where they've remotely accessed ecu .

Keyless entry cars are at risk given the "newly found" technology that's been "around for years"!


From what I have seen lately on the news, an owner drives home, parks up and presses lock/arm button on keypad, thieves jam the signal using technology available on the web. Owner thinks he has locked the car, thieves wait for an ideal time and simply turn up and get in to the "already unlocked car" and then its a case of using the frequency they stole to start the car "keyless" :(


I'm sure there is much more to it, but that's the basics.

This is why I'll never tick the option for Keyless entry on any new car.

What a shame, got the feeling you really liked it, one of the few modern cars I'd like to own.

Suppose it's a good and a bad thing that they can take it without needing the keys... like you say pleased no one was hurt.

I'm sure karma will pay them a visit.

Don't let it stop you from having another though, otherwise they've won.

When i got the BMW was paranoid cos here in leeds there rife at the moment thefts, i had Tracker fit and i took out Gap insurance for i think 25k shortfall. i also have a Disk Lock fitted which will either slow them down, or make them smash my door in for the keys :(

The "what they do" was on Moneywatch or something similar recently.

Your key sends out a low power signal constantly to the car saying "Its me! Its me!" so that when you get close, the car realises its you and unlocks etc.

Normally that's fine and when the key is not near the car, its all locked up cosy.

What the scrotes do is make a sensitive aerial that magnifies the signal, so that they can capture it. That is what the bloke is doing by the front door, holding an aerial linked by a cable to the other guy with a notepad/laptop by the car. They can then re-transmit the signal and the car thinks the key is there and unlocks etc.

They are working on the basis that most people leave their car keys by the front door.

To get round this, you should put your keys either in one of those special mesh pouches or a heavy metal box someplace away from the front door.

Its been a big issue for Range Rovers but I also think in their case, the thieves get in using above method and use an OBD device to trick the car's ECU into accepting a new key code before it starts.

I have the old fashioned key/transponder and I'm still paranoid & take extra measures.

Puff, I think you're right. I've come across what you describe on the web and that must explain what the guy is doing by the front door. However my keys are upstairs but perhaps they can pick the signal up from that far away.

I was always suspicious of keyless go and so would never have specced it on a new car. However since I've owned the vehicle I had grown quite fond of it...until what happened of course.

Anyhow, if I get another one I'll have to take some extra measures including bollards. And make sure I leave my phone turned on...the tracker did trigger and if I'd answered the phone alert I would probably still have my car right now..spilled milk I suppose.

You say the car was taken with out the keys so these scumbags must be quite good at there game, therefore may have a device what locates the tracker or know of were the trackers get fitted so have ripped it out.

The amount of cars that are going missing recently is shocking the Focus ST and RS models seem to be the most common ones and Bmw`s.

Iv been told you can relocate the ODB port as that is what they programme the car to start from and also the basics such as fuel cut off etc.

I hope you find a even better one, and look into the advanced security systems there is a lot of new advanced stuff out for cars now,

Sadly, I'll be amazed if your car ever seen in the UK again. Such a rare colour combination it will be spotted immediately if ever advertised.


My bets are that this is already inside a container somewhere awaiting shipping somewhere to the far east.


Certainly makes me consider keyless entry on future cars though.

It's presumably only really worth going as far as the insurance people demand , after that you're putting yourself in hock/danger.

Still could be worse, wouldn't want that kind car in South Africa. Eg
