Colour spraying coolant tank
I've bought a new coolant tank, and looking to spray it. Any tips? Guessing its made of Alloy? And does anyone have a part number for new gasket? thanks

Iirc it was Scooby Worx down in Barnsley, who used to do the recon header tanks, So maybe a good call in regards to getting the correct gasket/seal.

Looking at these pictures, can only assume it's a moulded/bonded rubber seal as no separate item is listed.

Ive refurbed two of them now, the first one leaked slightly after reassembly with the original gasket so a bead of three bond was added and then it sealed perfectly. I did the same with the second one i done and no leaks there neither :thumb:
Ps .. I had mine powder coated for durability, only cost £10 to be done and still looks mint a year on. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...70c90bde59.jpg |
Wow that looks really nice. Who powder coated them for you?

You can also buy 2pack paint now in cans (if you struggle to get powdercoated) which comes out really well if your confident with rattle cans. I've refurbed a manifold and it came out like new. 2k is also resistant to oil+ fuel etc

Can you get that colour coded? Thinking of getting same paint as on car. I'm not too bad at spraying. Did my alloys and brakes and wing mirrors.

I buy paint off eBay and just leave a message to tell them what colour code I want, just remember u need to buy lacquer too if it's metallic.

No special paint needed for the inlet manifold. |
What kind of price does he charge?

I use a guy who is local to me, He's done a fair few bits for me and always does a good job and saves me the time of getting the rattle cans out.
