Buying new iMac

My 11 year old intel iMac has finally given up the will to live. I like having a desktop and use photoshop quite a lot. Bit out of touch. Is there a best place on price to purchase and which model etc to go for?

New models released this week! Great timing. Buy from Apple.com for the latest or a good few people recommend John Lewis for the extended warranty... doubt they'll have the new model yet.

My main development machine, going to put an SSD in it to keep it running a few more years. Total cost of ownership on iMacs is fantastic.

If you have $5,000 the iMac Pro is great value :)

had my 5k retina iMac for 2 years now still holds it own, if you get 1 get the 27icher its a dream to work on. Plays all my game Warcraft and World of tanks so I'm sorted
I do all my Lightroom stuff on it too...

One thing i will say is Buy your own memory upgrade i upped mine from 8 to 32 BUT make sure you buy the SSD version i got fusion drive and although its ok, its slow in parts

the SSD upgrades are costly though, but bite your lip :)

New models are supposed to be easier to upgrade storage and memory, which is great news.

If you don't need the latest and most expensive then try the apple refurb store and get last years model for a lot less than rrp.

I just wish i'd bought before the prices went up by 20% as I refuse to pay those prices now.

Oh, the drives are still buried pretty well, they just made it easier.
