https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...5058afac91.jpg So it begins, engine delivered to the master engine builder Mr Paul Finch today. Can't wait for this to be finished, a nice 500 bhp fast road/track car :luxhello: |
You don't mess around Darren what's the spec on this

Fully forged Raggy, don't want any failures. I'm looking to build a good solid fast car that will run well within its limits. The reason I'm doing this with no expense spared is if and when I sell it I can have no worries that who ever is lucky enough to own this amazing car will have peace of mind. I don't want to run 450 on a standard engine and worry that it might give up the ghost at anytime. I know these engines can run good power standard but I want it right with no surprises. Once the engine side of this project is complete it will off to Chevronmotorsport to get the handling even better than it is already.

100 percent bud can't wait to see how it's gonna turn out

Sweet

What heads are you going for?
|
Tbh standard, I know they are not the greatest for big power but I want to map it on the standard ecu and not use syvecs . If there's another way I'd be grateful for the advice.
|
I'd put aftermarket ecu in Darren I'm kicking myself I didn't first day could be forced down that road in next few weeks
The standard heads will be fine at 500 bhp |
I was going to use the standard heads, but have decided to go for the big port route. Last thing I wanted to do was build the engine and then wished I had gone the whole-hog.
I have gone for all the RCM bits and a arrow billet crank to. Heads are being built as we speak to a fast road/track day spec, don't want idling issues. The overall objective is a reliable 550-600, but not sure if 600 will be possible as I've gone for the special Chevron TMIC. |
Did you look at cosworth heads or is it cheaper to build the jdm heads to the same spec ?
|
No messing around, love it!

You're probably better of speaking to the likes of Banny who has done this a few times or a few of the other members in the projects area.
|
IMO the Cosworth heads are over rated, particuarly when you take into account the fact you will most likely wait at least 6mths for delivery...........
various people including ourselves can offer something far more tailored and specific to suit the individual build |

Cosworth stuff in general is over priced, the issue with the hatch heads is that the exhaust port is quite narrow so at some point will become restrictive. Me personally regardless of big port or small castings would go single avcs get them ported, some 272 cams, single piece valves with retainers and valve springs and adjustable pulleys on the exhaust side. This will future proof your heads for over 650bhp :thumb:

Whiteline have bought the Spec C! It's now in sunny Scotland
|
Is this the one Graeme bought
|
Yes mate
|
Both hatches gone now Darren?
|
Yes Raggy on the look out in Japan for a yellow one now

|
Nice; I would have been interested in an exchange on that white one with my yellow
|
Eh! what happened with the engine build and your plans for the other one. :wonder:

Chevron supplied me with a genuine Walbro fuel pump specifically designed for the hatch, I'm not sure if many other places have them :thumb: |
I have a miltek front pipe on my hatch and the weld was blowing in a week after fitting had get it repaired ****e quality
