Yeah not a mod on it, few repairs to do but nothing massive, I don't even know if the car has central locking to start With, maybe speak to a Subaru dealer and see if they can tell me anything https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...b597216574.jpg

If it has central locking it should "manually" work from the drivers door lock with the key.

From MY99 AFAIK all Uk Subarus came equipped with the Sigma M30 alarm (with separate fob) which also operates the central locking.

Quote from Sigma Sam....
"- A keypad is fitted to ALL models with the UK standard fit alarm system (from 99 MY) as an emergency override, in the event of loss, damage, flat radio key battery etc. (The keypad also allows the driver to access a number of features and is a complete programming tool for the dealers) and so pushing/recovery of vehicle’s should not be necessary provided you know your override PIN and how to operate the keypad."

AFAIK, if fitted, glovebox or coin tray.

I'll have a look tomorrow, if I don't know my pin is it pricey to retrieve it?

Just checked, the car doesn't have any sort of keypad, it has stickers for a cobra car security and Panasonic but no keypad for The sigma remote locking

Cobra Car security suggests it has/has had a cobra system fitted (I had a cobra system fitted in my MY97 turbo 2000).
Panasonic relates to the Radio security feature.

Looks like it previously had a cobra system, yet now it has nothing which is worrying, I'll have to get on to installing an immobiliser as soon as possible, thanks for all your help!

It will have central locking, not remote central locking though. Not unless it was fitted at extra cost. A mod worth doing though.

How many miles has it done, one came up a few years ago with subaru low miles in that colour, not seen a nice one since, looks in good shape though.

Yeah I should have been more clear, I meant the remote central locking, its got 110k miles but it cost me £500 so for a car that's 1 of 200 at £500 I'll take that, the exterior and engine are in good shape, apart from an unidentifiable leak underneath but I'll have it up so I can see where it's coming from, have a sneaky suspicion that it's brake lines

I've looked a few times for any keypads, reprogram buttons (which I still don't know the location of, behind the kick panel but the manual says under diagnostic?) what Is a surefire way to tell if I have remote central locking, where do the modules connect to enable it so atleast I know I have it

If you've not found a keypad, as previously mentioned, in the glovebox or cointray, then it most likely doesn't have a sigma alarm fitted, especially as Cobra was mentioned by you.

You have central locking operated from the drivers door key.
To have remote central locking you would need an alarm system with an output for central locking and an additional door lock actuator fitted to the drivers door mechanism to carry out the same operation as if using the key.

Thanks, I can finally be certain

Just replied to your PM - just for info the sports, GL's, etc in fact all the classic non turbo Impreza's came with the factory ignition key immobiliser and no remote central locking unless it was retro fitted by a dealer or had an aftermarket alarm fitted.

Hope it helps.

Andrew.
