I know i was trying to replace turbo on my other car last night not easy in dark. You could replace single din stereo into double din.

it's just too dark. Would like to push the car into the garage but currently in the middle of brakes. So cars on axle stands.

I did make a purchase the other night of some new seats. Need to wait until they arrive to work out the seat belt situation.
but here they are (picture of the seats but not my picture)https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...4202b4c910.jpg

So today was spent cutting bumper to fit the intercooler and attempting to fix the brakes on.
Got someone coming to give us a hand tomorrow to sort out the rear brake lines. Whilst my dad sprays the bumper up.

Are the rear metal lines corroded? Had to replace the rears on mine last year, shame they didn't use copper brake lines from new but guess they expect the car to be at the end of its life after 10 years and steel ones are usually good enough for that. At least the majority of the rear lines run inside the car so they're protected.

Yeah corroded quite badly too. I spose they have been on the car for 20 years. A mate is making the copper lines tonight should be ready for tomorrow. We are cut the lines just under the seat and going to put the unions inside the car. Still running the lines over the fuel tank. Just realised I haven't got any central looking now also no heaters too. They don't even come on. I might have to get the bmw finished off so I can run the Scooby to my garage then in can work on it in the dark having lights and electric up there. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...c8ce05a8b7.jpg

Thats exactly what we did with mine, new union under the seat, did run the near side round the tank rather than over it for conveniance.

yeah I was thinking about that too but decided the tanks dropped so may as well put them in the same place.

Hey thanks. Lol yeah it's gone from one extreme to the next.
Your wagon looks nice, one of my favourite colours as well. What are the plans for it?

I feed the lines through this weekend and bolted the axle and tank back up. Then today it was spent at my garage where I sold a doner car and had a bit of a clear out of the garage. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...cff08d77a7.jpg

started to burn the rear axle bushes out of the e36 today. Garage is still a mess but this week will be spent clearing up and get some shelving units put in to tidy up the mess https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...9ae4652628.jpg

My immediate plans are to make sure the mechanical side of things are running right, it has come with massive folder of receipts, but some of the receipts don't correspond to what's on the car, so getting that side of it is my first plan, especially as i have an intermittent CEL coming on, pointing at the knock sensor, then in the new year it will be body work and suspension, the arches a little poorly on the rear, so get that fixed, then in for a full re-spray, then when all that is set head down for the 300+ bhp mark :)

Sounds like a good plan to start with that. I would love to get a full respray on mine but funds are tight plus the gf wants to buy a house next year. So saving is gonna be key. 300+ plenty of fun and doable with these engines too.

I had some starting issues this week and it's gone from living to not wanting to. Still waiting for a mate to sort the brake unions on the rear. Looks like the rear 2 pot calipers need some new rubber seals so that's the plan for tomorrow. Fitted the 4pot fronts and braided lines and some more of the interior https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...b4182cea5a.jpg
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...32b4440396.jpg

and the seats turned up too 😊

Nice project and awesome colour :)

Not going in to quite so much detail as you, engine is sorted now, new belts, tensioners, pumps, gaskets etc etc. Recently bought a scrapper facelift and took the interior, brakes, lights, wheels, headlining (extra courtesy light), cup holder and a few other odds and sods, coilovers to go on next and ill be happy

😀 nice mate looks awesome. Although that picture it does look darker.

Nice mate good to hear that another classic is being looked after as well.

Got mine going to a garage soon to give it the once over and just make sure that everything is alright and for peace of mind.

Harris classic 18 November 2017 09:00 PM

Got rear 2 pots on today. After changing the dust covers on the rears because they were split.

So a few things done this weekend starting to bleed the brakes. Unfortunately the car is over fuelling on 2 and 4. After changing the plugs could quite clearing see the car is running too rich. Alot of black smoke coming out the exhaust.

waiting on a few parts to be delivered to get the heaters running.

steering column had too much play in for my liking so having the old one adapted to fit the facelift indicators and facelift steering lock too.

fingers crossed the over fuelling isn't anything to worry about and an easy fix.

but still got a long way to go.

Harris classic 03 December 2017 07:33 PM

So this weekend was mainly putting the car back together ready to take to triton to fix all the issues I can't seem to get my head around or find the time to get done.

went to my garage as well to pick up some wheels and check out my dad's spraying. Definitely think the paints either wrong or faded a hell of alot. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...9bee24d1ef.jpg

Good spray job but doesn’t look like it will match at all.

yeah that's my only real concern. It's the same paintcode. Paint needs flating back but it's never gonna match 🤔

MoggyNinja 03 December 2017 09:28 PM

Its hard to tell from pictures, but has he applied the clear coat, because those parts look to me like just the base colour has been putt on? the clear coat will have an impact on the shade of the colour too

no clear coat has been applied yet. Still needs a few more base coats and flating back. Hopefully the clear coat will make it more blue.

Harris classic 10 December 2017 11:38 PM

Not much done this weekend as tomorrow it's off to triton. Picked my bumper up and a few other bits. Managed to put the bumper but it needs to come off to fit the covers and number plate bracket.

yeah I haven't seen it in the daylight yet but it did look very close. Hopefully when I've got the car back from the garage I will have a go at machine polishing the paint work.

very close now and i can't wait. Hopefully be back before xmas.

Harris classic 30 December 2017 02:27 PM

So it's been very quiet over Xmas. The car is still at the garage. They fixed the running issue which is good. They have just a few other bits to Do for us then it's ready. Should be done for the 5th January

the hornet Maxx 1 alarm was also fitted last week so looking forward to having that now just need to get a second key cut.

I've been clucking to get on with a few other bits on the car so decided to build my seats. Was toying with the idea of running harnesses but decided against it after looking for harness bars etc. As the back seats will be being used at some point.
Found some recaro rails with the seatbelt point.
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...c955e798b2.jpg

covers are kept on because of the dog and his hair https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...a038a06a0b.jpg

Harris classic 03 January 2018 09:54 PM

So I got her back today. Had to take it easy due to the brakes need bedding in.

few issues have to sort out. Lower arms are rotten, struts have some play in and the rubber gormet around the steering column needs replacing. Just ordered some lower arms looking at upgrading to coilovers as for the rubber was thinking about maybe plugging the hole with some tigerseal.

Looking good mate, i bet your chuffed to bits with where its at now, especially from where it was, like spaghetti junction when all the wiring was out in the cabin hehe, ive done some work on mine today, kept getting steamed up rear windows, when i lifted the spare tyre up today, the wheel well was up to the top with water where you screw the bar in to pin the spare down, i could have kept goldfish in it hehe, so theres another job finding where thats coming in, i love these cars hehe

Cambs_Stuart 04 January 2018 07:10 AM

Good to see it on the road!
As for the arms, will alloy versions drop in as a replacement?

Ravolouso 04 January 2018 11:16 AM

This thread has been a brilliant read. You've done a great job getting to where you are now. The wagon is looking ace.
Seems like every time you post, you've got it sitting on different wheels.
Are you not going to put it back on the Rays? They looked spot on.

Thanks, I am chuffed to bits with it. Looking back at the pics I never thought it would get this car especially the wiring. That was the make or break moment.

yeah I think I got the same issue you will have to let me know how it goes and how to fix it.
