are these any good?
|
£179 Fleabay specials,,,I would guess NO
Just a wild guess mind :) |
at that price they have to be worth a punt ?
|
Well I have brought some and we will see what they are like as they are a hap import with looks like a warehouse in the UK
|
"hap import"?
It clearly states that it's a Chinese company: Business seller information DEGUI LIAO DEGUI LIAO 2-1, No 40 YueXingCun, BeiBei Qu 400700 ChongQing China Buy cheap, buy twice springs to mind. Still, free sun shade! |
I've got a set on my bug. My honest opinion they are hard for daily use. If you live anywhere that has speed bumps or poor roads then you'll regret having them.
Where I live some of the new smooth roads are brilliant for these. Car is planted and feels really good on them. I then go to the gf's area and it's shocking. I'm now looking at getting some lowering springs instead. |

My guesses are they're going to be pretty tragic at that price... and will probably make your car handle even worse on our roads..
|
For £178.99 hmm why not try them ^^ its cheap ^^
|
I've heard they the dogs bollocks, when you go over a speed bump, they explode and you will then become a Subaru terrorist on the BBC news:)

Nino87 have u used the softest damping

These with the adjustable dampers might be better but the ones I've got are very hard. They'd be perfect for smooth track use to be honest as they do handle really good. |
When you get them and take them out the box you should get a good idea of the build quality, if they really crap just dont fit them.
|
They feel absolutely fine. They felt like the Apex coilovers that I had on a previous car.
Personally knowing what I know now I'd just get lowering springs but that's only because of what roads I drive on. |

Mine didn't come with that option but it is the same brand. Got them because I needed rear shockers and these were the cheaper option.

Any shock will be good on a smooth track - they aren't having to do any work! If all roads were like billiard tables, you wouldn't even need shock absorbers.
Just any massive drops or rises like potholes or say when they resurface the road and either drop or raise it then you notice the hard ride. |
I suppose that's the limitation in damper tech being employed. I guess if you have no R&D to pay for and you can simply copy someone else's design, then it's probably feasible to remanufacture a set of coilovers in China for very little. There isnt much too them. But the internal damping technology and quality of material will ultimately determine how well they perform (and over how wide a range) and also their longevity.
I had to cut up some KYB shocks the other week and their construction is hardly rocket science. Would be easy to replicate. And springs aren't exactly cutting-edge technology either. |
they will be copies of another brand, made with cheaper materials and cheaper manufacturing methods.
Bit like designing something to work as 10mm steel plate and using 10mm of wood, after a coat of paint looks the same, cheaper to buy, but wont do the same job ;) |
well got them today and look very nice so not sure to keep them or not as these ones have the adjustable damping but still think the ride will be hard as of the springs

Think tidgy is onto something here how can they be any good at 150 pound common sense
|
45 quid a corner, they must be awesome. Maybe if it was your gfs corsa ;)
|
Was the sun shade any good?

Really, they are made of wood, jeez that year off didnt do you much good, don`t tell me, the only place that anyone should ever buy parts from are Scabby clinic . . .
|
Why are people complaining about the price?
If they were £500 would you buy them? Don't get me wrong they are worth a punt if you need replace a standard part but for daily use I'd go with lowering springs. |

Just looked at these, the dampers are not the reason for a hard ride, it is the shock absorber spring rate at 10kg is far too hard, normal spring rate would be about 6kg.
|
So any of fitting normal spring to them
