Garage Flooring
Ok so it's time to do something with the garage. The better half has given me permission to fill my boots with the agreed exception that it can be also used as a gym as well as securing my pride and joy.
I started looking at the interlocking eBay specials but as you can imagine, research shows there's nothing much good said about them after 12 months of use. I've now started looking at stable / gym rubber flooring but going round in circles as i'm getting quoted thousands to cover an area of 6.3 x 4.3 metres. I'm going to seal and paint the floor before putting anything down but just wondering who has done what and what they would recommend????? Thanks in advance |
This stuff would only cost a few hundred pounds if you lay it yourself

Layed correctly a good quality floor tile would be my choice, easy to keep clean with a brush and a mop :)

No no , you want this m8
"Tufflor". Here's a tip , if your garage has cheap concrete on i.e. ( very dusty ) then I would sand the floor after washing & apply 2 coats .. / they also do all the accessories that will help .. the large roller & tray is a must .. a standard size 1 car garage will cost you circa £100, & around £50 for all the goodies depending on what you go for .. I recommend the "Auto Blue" https://www.reprotecuk.co.uk/ You won't regret using this stuff |

wish I seen this sooner .....just done the kitchen flooring at work @ the cost of £60K !!!
If not I am prepared to be amazed with an explanation. Just as an aside, does anyone know how you get into the kitchen floor business? |
yes...£60k+...it was for a commercial kitchen , bascically removing all floor tiles and lay down new concrete base and applying some anti slip layers type concrete resin on top (don't know the technical name of the stuff ) ), reason that is was so £££ is it was done in three days working out of normal hours (so huge mark up on labour cost ), also to install a drainage system to the flooring as well .
the funny thing is that they F**k the finish up as well and will have to repair it as some cracks have appeared and in places the layers had "lifted" under the turbo cooker's heat ! it was not my decision to use this contractor ..my major partner give the go ahead without consulting us ...lesson learnt !!! always get three quotations !!, |
Thanks for the reply Big.Commercial not domestic kinda makes sense. You have to get the business running. But as you say when spending that kind of money you need to spend some serious time researching & planning.
Cheers. |
Ouch!!! , let's just hope it stands the test of time for that kind of money , hate to say tho if it's lifting from the setting period , it ain't a good start. My sympathy m8

I used and epoxy 2 part floor paint which is both Chemical & anti-bacterial resistant as well as anti-slip. I got it from Watco there are different types of finishes to choose from as well as colours
Prices varies depending on what you want http://www.watco.co.uk/paint-and-sea...concrete-paint Attachment 25148 |
Had this installed in our garage - http://installed.co.nz/garage-carpet...pBsaAllB8P8HAQ
Very nice to walk on - holds up very well when driven on. Much nicer than a cold concrete floor - especially in winter! |

Thanks for all the suggestions gents.
Looking in to all the suggestions now but the better half is adamant about a softer floor to work out on. I've spoke with a few companies and currently like the look of this as well http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2219136334...&sojTags=bu=bu |
Great find this thread. My garage floor was screeded by my builder and already has started to break up so I assume it was a weak mix! Now my question is what can I fill these patches with and then seal and protect the floor to stop it happening again?
He never sealed it I just painted the concrete finish with ronseal floor paint. But the dust in there is endless due to what I assume is it wasn't sealed. Or do I need to kango it out and get the floor done again? |
