ordering 02c paint

im needing to order some paint for my bug sti. i know the paint code obviously but is it 2k paint i ask for? is it metallic? i know sod all about paint whatsoever! what about lacquer and/or hardener? basically what does a clueless buffoon ask for at the paint shop? i think i need around 500 mltr of each? basically enough to paint a front wing, my rear spoiler and blow in a rear arch. help!

I thought the whole point of the 'Paint code' is to tell the supplier specifically what type of paint is used, colours, mixing ratios, etc, etc. The supplier looks it up in the book and ALL the relevant info is there.

I don't think the onus is on the 'requester' to know, IYSWIM.

I had a mobile painter come to work the last couple of weeks for some blemishes to be sorted. I showed him the code on the VIN - 51E ("Pure White") - and he looked it up in his laminated 'paint codes' folder, and simply cracked on lol.

Bearing in mind my car's original paint is now over 18 yrs old, the match is seamless. Well impressed.

Id say half a litre of base coat at least for what you need. Just ask paint supplier for it in 02c. They should also sell you a laqeur kit that will have the hardner. You will need a mixing cup and a tack cloth aswell. You might find you need to blend up the front door aswell if painting full wing as the fresh paint might stand out like a sore thumb.
