Speed Density ECUTEK

Has anybody had gains from using Speed Density ECUTEK racerom on a dbw car?

you can see gains if your already past the 5v limit on your MAF, switching to speed density will allow you to fix the fuelling at the higher boot/load points that you couldn't get to before. So "maybe" i guess is the answer to your question, it depends on your specific setup.

I am running a Forged 2.5 SCDB Mahle Pistons,330s rods,11mm RCM studs, 2.5 WRX heads, MDX321T, RCM headers, RCM Big Maf Induction kit,
DW340LPH FP, Lateral 850cc Injectors, Full 3 inch decat, 6 speed box with
stage 2 clutch lightened flywheel, FMIC, made 448bhp 392lbft


currently on open source at 1.3 bar, mapper says maf is on edge, hence he can't let it go wild like a 2.5 should with a billet turbo should be low down.
would like to give it the 1.55/1.6 bar maybe 20% meth, to try and get 450lbft of torque.

ok - so if your mapper is suggesting it then it's the way to go. The 32bit cars can read all the way up to 5volts so you must be pulling some decent air in already at only 1.3bar.

It will probably take a little while to get setup but once up and running the speed density setup should be every bit as good as the maf setup for most driving.

Having to change mapper as current one does not do ECUTEK, actually going to see Andy Forrest, spoke to andy at RA Motorsport where we are going and luckily you can have a hybrid set up which make sit easier to set up, so looking to fit a blow through maf to get temp input, run maf low down then go to speed density when car comes into boost, should make map safer even at 1.6 bar, 32 bits are a good bit of kit, should kill lag.


Do you think speed density/ reading proper intake temps, will give a bit more ignition advance? Safely fuelling for more boost?


I think ecu really needs to know actual intake temp as there is probs a massive diff when running fmic!, pipe is freezing cold!

you can do open source speed density as well, which ECU/ROM are you running?

Not sure if I'd bother with the blow through, just tap the manifold or the intercooler pipe just before the throttle body and stick a temp sensor in there. If the MAF is a restriction in front of the turbo it will certainly be one behind the turbo even if your only using it for IAT. Also blow-through can cause some reverse flow on the MAF sensor which will give you weird results in some circumstances.

Reading the proper intake temps should help dial in your timing, but you might not necessarily get any more timing - normal use is to use the reading to reduce timing where the air charge is too hot. But a lot of that depends on the current map too. Should definitely add some safety margin though as you'll be better able to compensate for heat soak of the intercooler.
