2011 Subaru wrx sti performance issue
I have a 2011 Subaru wrx sti limited edition 320bhp.
I have noticed lately a drop in power in all modes. In sport sharp it used to throw you back in seat with great power and boost but now it's lagging and hesitating to do this. Have taken it too Subaru dealer computer has shown no faults. Anyone any thoughts what might be going wrong?? |
Get it to a specialist who knows what there doing, plugging a computer in is a bit useless alot of the time.
It could be alot of reasons, you could be getting used to it, could be a sensor is on the blink, could be its dropped a ringland. |
All started after service.... 10w 60 was put in instead of 5w 30.....oil now changed to 5w 30 but same problem??
|
as said could be any number of things totaly unrelated to that. get it to a specialist for them to have a look, dyno run etc to see whats going on. try and keep it off boost till you find out whats going on and get ti check out asap
|
Do you know of any specialists in Northern Ireland?
|
10w60 wouldnt cause a problem like that - a cracked piston/ringland would though :(
who services it for you over in Belfast? |
Compression test before Laptop!
Spark plugs at the same time |
Hi Subaru put my car on laptop and at 2000rpm was giving half results reading that same car as mine was giving out.....they believe some valves that open and close were oil is based are not enhancing to give boost.....say drive for few weeks may come good or bring back to flush engine out then new oil with particles added.....??
|
eh?
|
Drive for a few weeks ? I wouldn't risk it. Who is it that plugged it in ?

you didnt mention who serviced it? they didnt happen to flush it during the service? id always go against engine flush during an oil service unless i categorically know its always been flushed as if it hasnt and there is a build up somewhere and the flush clears a build up its likely to get stuck in another oil orifice somewhere |
It's the main Subaru dealer telling me this. They did not service it I got it done else were.
I know nothing about them so just going on their advice? |
and im guessing there is nothing in the service history to tell you who serviced it previously before going to the Subaru dealer?
Being in Belfast id recommend asking OMA in Mallusk to take a look at it for you....subaru specialist and very good at identifying issues |
I do know the guy who serviced it but don't want to reveal name. Car was performing fine up to wrong oil being put in.
Thanks for contact Gambit will give them a ring |
Took it too OMA in mallusk....turns out to be that catalyic converter had broken and parts of it were blocking the exhaust system
|
Glad you finaly sorted it, shows how useless dealers are
|
I believe this is the car I've just bought, and still having lack of power and torque.see my other threads to what I've done.ive removed the 2007 cat down pipe and the bodged up extended centre section for the correct cats, amongst new exhaust ocv,new maf new battery, still the same more often than not it drives low on power, the will be ok for a week then a day here and there.problem solved all the brakes seizing on.
